There is no 'browse' button on the Baja Events forum (on Nomad) for me to show the logo there, so I am posting here for all interested Nomads...

Here is the email from Antonio tonight that says it better than me retyping the details...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bro...

I have been very, very busy organizing a ton of stuff...so, again, I need your help, if you have the time, to distribute the festival image (which I am attaching now) to any and all web sites you consider appropiate. Any place you think it may help to promote the Festival.

The reason for me to ask this is that I am seeing coming a lot a time for me to be spent in El Rosario in the next weeks...and as you know, I do not have Internet there.

The name of the festival is "Baja Rosario Festival 2005"... the activities we are organizing you already know.

Anyone who wish to attend and reserve a room in El Rosario, may contact me directly at festival@bajacactus.com... I have made arrangements with the local motels for me to control all the reservations for those days (it is easier).

We have the BajaCactus Motel with 24 rooms (18 already reserved), Las Caba?as motel with 17 rooms (4 already reserved) and Motel Sinahi with 16 rooms.

Motel Sinahi also has RV's park with capacity for 24 motorhomes.

If someone would like a camping site at La Bocana, they can also contact me at festival@bajacactus.com (I do not have the rates for there yet... but it will be something like $5-$10 us dlls a night... not sure yet)

Rates on this three motel are between $ 25 dlls - $ 35 dlls a night.

I also have arrange for motel rooms in San Quint?n, so if anyone wishes to stay there instead they can do it at festival@bajacactus.com ... GOT IT?... festival@bajacactus.com... jejejeje

Time to be a BajaCactus ambassador again Bro...if you do not have the time just let me know and I will ask my wife or someone elso to assist me... NO PROBLEM...!!!

If you need any other info.. just let me know...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks mucho Antonio!!!

OK Nomads:

There is going to be quite a lot of events at this first ever fiesta celebrtating the founding of the town (mission) of Rosario (EL ROSARIO) on July 20, 1774.

To name a few:

Food, music, area tours, story-telling, local industry expo, beauty pageant, dancing... did I say food?

Be there or be square!

Continue on with us to Mision Santa Maria after the event if you have a sturdy vehicle! See my Baja Notebook for details.

David K - 5-25-2005 at 08:20 PM

Yes.. good point Wilderone!

Books about Baja, Deserts, Oceans, etc. for the Baja Cactus Library... A list of books already donated is in a seperate thread.

I just got an email from Antonio that the event email address works fine festival@bajacactus.com

Also, to help with the planned desert/area tours, we are going to El Rosario instead of Shell Island, this weekend... Antonio will be there as well. Come on down and check out the sites! See http://vivabaja.com/1104 for some of them!

Wish I could go

academicanarchist - 6-5-2005 at 03:19 AM

Wish I could go, but I will be stuck in DC. Take some good shots of the events.

Way off topic - but how the heck do you know about Poor Red's and their gold cadiliacs???

David K - 6-5-2005 at 10:01 AM

I will tell you later... Baja Angel and I are going to visit with Neal and Marian Johns (and the huskies)... leaving now!

Poor Red & Rich Opel's in El Dorado, CA

David K - 6-5-2005 at 09:12 PM

Santiago: My (bio.) father lives in Diamond Springs and his wife is Opel's daughter... Opel passed away. I have not been to their saloon in several years, but it was a blast when I was their... with those double glass served ice cream drinks (incl. Galliano & Creme de Cocoa).

Further south on Hwy. 49, my mom owned a business in Coulterville (between Sonora and Mariposa) back in the late 70's/early 80's... the Chinese General Store form the gold mining years, turned into an antique store.

So, I have a small connection with the Sierra Nevada foothills!

bajaandy - 6-6-2005 at 08:41 AM

Thanks DK for the update!! We are looking forward to this event. It looks like it's really shaping up to be a great time. I'll be sure to confirm with Antonio at the new email address.

Okay...I am a happy camper now. And My ten year son. We're in for a room of whatever size that may be avail. Please charge it to DavidK's Master Card. Thanks for the update on this subject.
ALSO.....would like to know if there will be kids at this social. I have a 10 yr boy here that's a great kid (better than me) that likes to make freinds.

David K - 6-15-2005 at 08:58 PM

I think Debra (travelpearl) is going to be there with her son Brendan... who is about 11 years old now.

Bedman took this photo of Brendan at Cielito Lindo during BBBB-4 in 2002...

[Edited on 6-17-2005 by David K]

Debra - 6-15-2005 at 11:06 PM

We are planning to make it (barring some mishap) if at all possible.

Brendan is almost 12 now (Aug.) but, ask all that know him, he plays with infants, to really REALLY OLD people like Mike H. Great to hear that other kids will be there! Looking forward to it.

(Sheesh! who dressed that kid? green with blue?)

my kids hate me sometimes!

yankeeirishman - 6-15-2005 at 11:24 PM

Here's my Nic...How he hates the ol man doing him in Photoshop! He is 10, nicknamed Einstein because he is very smart, well mannered?.

How hot?

neilmac - 6-16-2005 at 08:39 AM

What's the weather likely to be for the festival; is El Rosario close enough to the coast to stay cool? It's only, what 10 miles or so?

Neil

(later) just checked the INEGI topo; it's only about 6 km from town to beach - shouldn't be too damn hot!

[Edited on 6-16-2005 by neilmac]

David K - 6-16-2005 at 06:00 PM

Yes... it will be HOT! Are we not BAJA NOMADS??

It is SUMMER, afterall...

But, it is only 4 miles from this beach!!!

Yes... it will be HOT! Are we not BAJA NOMADS??

neilmac - 6-17-2005 at 12:17 PM

Si, como no, amigo.... pero...

when stuck summering over in Indio (pronounced 'blast-furnace'); going somewhere HOT on vacation doesn't sound too.... cool? kind of a hard sell...

It's not like San Diego over here.

Still, 4 mi./6 clicks to the Pacific (and less than that to the Pacifico) might make it work out OK, afterall!!

Neil

David K - 6-17-2005 at 08:11 PM

That's the spirit!:bounce:

David K - 6-27-2005 at 07:40 PM

topping the post...

Compared to other Baja locations.....

Hook - 6-27-2005 at 09:02 PM

....I have never considered El Rosario hot.

I predict it will feel like Laguna Niguel or Torrance or Vista....in other words, just perfect.
