Road conditions from Santa Rosalia to La Paz

Pescador - 10-9-2003 at 03:02 PM

There are some really serious washouts south of Santa Rosalia before the grade going up the hill from Puerto Escondido but they have gotten everything up to speed pretty quickly. It only took us about an hour extra to go from Santa Rosalia to La Paz. The destruction is almost in exactly the same places that it was two years ago with Juliette. We were driving a Dodge truck with a Lance Camper and pulling a center console boat. Everything was good, you just kinda figured out where you needed to slow up in the arroyos. La Paz is truly a mess in some areas but they are working hard at rebuilding things and unless you look carefully then the damage kind jumps out at you.
But if you are thinking of coming down, the roads are great, just have to go slow when you come up on the problem areas. Almost all are signed so you normally have ample warning.

Just arrived in la Paz. Spent a week in the mountains. The road down as Pescador said is not a problem. Washouts in many places but as long as you are careful, no hay problemas.
