Here is a nuts and bolts trip report (with photos)...

Friday, Sept. 2, 2005:

Purchased new Tourist Cards (FMTs) at Tijuana, easily... cost US$20 each (payable at teller a few steps from Migra office, facing secondary inspection covered parking area, at border.

Had great Lobster lunch (shared a four pounder) at Chela's in Puerto Nuevo (at the top of the 3 story building, first side street to left off entrance road... Parking in front. Happy birthday to Baja Angel with ice cream and flautas by waiter!

Easy afternoon drive to El Rosario for an evening at Mexico's finest roadside motel: Baja Cactus. The owner, Antonio ('BajaCactus' on Nomad) had just arrived himself from Tijuana and was was totally surprised by our visit.

Antonio invited Baja Angel and I to dine with him at Mama Espinoza's... although we still had lobster in our bellies from four hours earlier. Rolli (Mama's daughter) brought out chocolate cake for Baja Angel's birthday! I told Elizabeth (Baja Angel) that birthdays last nearly forever in Baja!

Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005:

After sleeping in (on the best mattresses made for hotels), and not getting any phone calls on the new (in room) telephone... we decided to head across Baja to our favorite beach, I have called 'Shell Island', since first camping there in 1978. However, instead of going south to Chapala then north via Gonzaga Bay.... we decided to take a new (for Baja Angel) route across Baja... One that needed to be checked out, as I haven't been on it for 20 years! That route would be up the observatory road and north to Mike's Sky Rancho, and on to Hwy. 3.

First, we pulled off Mex. 1 for a side trip to Rancho Cielito Lindo, and Gypsy's RV Park where Laura's Wet Buzzard Bar is located... the home of the best breakfast burritos in Baja! That was our breakfast Saturday morning. Afterwards, we drove out onto the beach where we saw other 4X4s parked, fishing, etc. Baja Angel asked me to stop when she saw something in the sand... SAND DOLLARS (Sand Pesos?)...

Report Continues...

Okay... I have added direct links at the first and last page of each of the parts so the reader can go from the end of one part to the next part, without searching for it on the forum...

I broke it up like this so those with dial up can view the photos without waiting an eternity... When too many photos are on a single thread it can take ages for the page to open.
