This is a tough one

academicanarchist - 10-22-2005 at 07:09 AM

This is a mission in northern Mexico, one in a larger group that figure prominently in the later hiistory of Baja California and the California missions.

#2 is Mision San Vicente Ferrer.

TMW - 10-22-2005 at 09:06 AM

#4 is Mision Santo Tomas de Aquino.

TMW - 10-22-2005 at 09:09 AM

#5 is more of a guess, but I think it's Mision Santo Domingo de la Frontera.

Correct

academicanarchist - 10-22-2005 at 09:13 AM

You are correct with all three guesses. Well done.

rpleger - 10-22-2005 at 06:53 PM

Wow........

Good for you TW.

Damn you know your missions.

comitan - 10-22-2005 at 07:00 PM

academicanarchist, I hate to tell you this but when you put your curser in the picture it tells you what it is. You are going to have to come up with a better system.:bounce::bounce::bounce:

TMW - 10-23-2005 at 06:47 AM

To be honest I used my Las Misiones Antiguas book by Edward W. Vernon.
#2 and 4 were identical photos in the book but 5 was a little different. 1, 3, and 6 I couldn't find until Comitan pointed out the cursor thing. Gees I could have saved a lot of time. But I did enjoy thumbing thru the book.

TMW - 10-23-2005 at 06:49 AM

AA I think if you change the saved title name of the pix before attaching would fix it.

bajalou - 10-23-2005 at 09:02 AM

Well, my cursor isn't showing titles this morning. It has in the past.

Looks like Mulege

Try to name these two

academicanarchist - 10-23-2005 at 03:17 PM

and this one

academicanarchist - 10-23-2005 at 03:19 PM

No guesses?

academicanarchist - 10-26-2005 at 12:33 AM

Ok. No guesses on the last three missions, which are tough. Before coming to Baja California and later California, Serra and some of his cohort worked in the Sierra Gorda missions, located in a mountainous region of Queretaro. Several years ago UNESCO listed five of the missions on the World Patrimony list. The three in order are Tilaco, Landa, and Conca.

Photographs?

A.A., did you take these photographs? The last two look to have magnificient detailed work. Bet they are impressive in person! John M.
