bajalou - 12-1-2005 at 09:08 PM

Well, Nomads, it's almost time for out 10th annual Turkey Feast at Lou & Teina's place here in San Felipe

12 NOON - on Dec 31st, I will have finished smoking 6 nice 20# turkeys. All you Nomads who might be in the San Felipe area at this time are invited to join us.

Teina's family and I will be providing the turkeys, some stuffing and gravy and a few other things. Join us with a little something to share and your drinks and meet some great new people and some you might have met before. Several Nomads have joined us in prior years and we're hoping for them all to return and meet some more that we havn't met yet.

So put it on your calendar, Dec 31st 12 noon. San Felipe

Saltito (Zoo) road west to the sign "Los Viajeros South" (about 3 miles from Hghy 5), turn south for about 1/2 mile and look on the left. It's hard to miss once a few people start coming. Any questions Email me - bajalou@gmail.com

Hope to see you here.

Lou, The wife and I will be there. Check your u2u,s.

bajalou - 12-7-2005 at 05:00 PM

Glad so many of you can make it.

Must be time to post directions - Alread posted the GPS coords but here they are again -- 31 05.406,-114 55.876

For the more technical people, from Mex 5 turn west on Saltito or Zoo road. This is about 6 miles north of the Arches. Go about 3 miles and watch for large sign "Los Viajeros South" Turn left (south) and procede south about 1/2 mile and look to the left for the cars. There is a vacant lot for parking and along the roadways - no body around across the street from the vacant lot so can park there also.

Remember this is the desert - 2wd off the road and we'll get someone to pull you out.

We're ancious to see all of you that can make it -

If you're coming from a home etc down here, bring chairs if you have them - always short - people on MCs usually can't bring any and we want everyone to be able to sit.

Remember, we're furnishing turkey (6 flavors) dressing and gravey (and amybe a little more) so whatever you want to bring to share will be welcome along with whever you drink. Probably have some cervesa and water but that's about it.

Looking forward to seeing all of you------------

bajalou - 12-8-2005 at 04:28 PM

Just remembered - If you've never been in the San Felipe area to know what is Zoo road, it is about 150 ft South of a big alegator sign - for the Rockadile Bar. Sign and road are on the west side of Hghy 5 - forgot the KM marker.

:saint:

El Camote - 12-9-2005 at 12:31 PM

turn just before the km179 marker, I believe.

Lou, put us down for 2.5 ppl. Mother-out-law can't make it this year so there should be plenty of food for everyone. :O:spingrin::yes:

Looking forward to it!!

David K - 12-20-2005 at 08:35 AM

Lou, is your GPS waypoint at Mexico's maps NAD27 or geocaching's WGS84?

Can Baja Angel and I bring something beside our chairs and beer?

burro bob - 12-20-2005 at 10:03 AM

Lou
What a crapy map. You didn't show any of the Ejido. How am I supposed to find the place.
Also, if that is your house at the end of the red line, then where are all your old rigs. I think that is a picture of Wornout's house. As I remember your house looks like a trailer, just a little bigger than mine.

bajalou - 12-20-2005 at 10:13 AM

Everyone attending is invited to bring a food dish to share - doesn't have to be big, just something you want to share with the group. We are furnishing the turkeys, dressing and gravy for the group, so fill in with your specialty - No need in me suggesting anything - that will only overload that item - one year, short on mashed potatoes - next year, about 10 gallons.

Here's a pic from a couple years ago ---

And Rob, had to store all (or most) of the old stuff near your place in the Ejido -

What a difference 2 yrs. makes...

Lou, looks like we'll have 3.5 ppl. - friend's coming who needs to escape from L.A. :o Funny, Wendy and I talked about it last night and we had planned to bring a vat of mashed potatoes but we may have to rethink that...

Charlie

Nice picture of Charlie El Camote! He is Really growing fast! a Real cutie too!:tumble::tumble::spingrin::spingrin:

bajalou - 12-20-2005 at 04:46 PM

The spuds sound OK to me Mike - If I say don't, then probably would have none at all - never know ???????????????????

And Charlie is looking good -

And David - right here, NAD27 and WGS84 points are close enough together you won't get lost.

[Edited on 12-20-2005 by bajalou]

David K - 12-20-2005 at 04:51 PM

Yes Lou, I know they are within 1000 feet of each other, but was wondering which map datum you were posting.

bajalou - 12-20-2005 at 07:47 PM

Probably WGS84 - only set GPSr on NAD27 if I want to locate a position on a paper topo map. And I always use UTM as I find much easier to pinpoint on a map than lat/long.

:O

David K - 12-20-2005 at 08:08 PM

Well, if we make it there... I will double check it (LOL)!

You have been inviting me to your digs for a couple years now, looks like we will make it finally!

It will be good to see El Camote and family again, too!

Just got the report from the turkey fairy - Teina's sister Teresa that they are picking ujp to bring down 158 lbs of free range, organicly feed turkeys - so no one should go hungry for turkey

See you Saturday - 12 noon

Bob and Susan - 12-28-2005 at 03:35 PM

Thats ten turkeys!!!

How BIG is your oven???

bajalou - 12-28-2005 at 03:50 PM

It's actually only 6 ranging fromm 23 to 29 lbs each. and no oven  I'll smoke them in 5-6 smokers. Had to dig up more smokers as each will only hold 2 of the 20 lb size
