My son lives in a nice area in Thosand Oaks CA and the area was hit last nite with by teens breaking into cars. They smashed windows stole items. We found empty purses Christams items scattered through out the naborhood and my cell ph is missing. Small thing compared to what others lost.
The flu has delayed my trip to Baja as I didn't get my flu shot this year. It's a real bad strain of it so take precations! My other son up north went to ER room with it and so have others. So far I am not too bad and I pray it doesn't get worse. Soon as I feel better I will take off for Baja. Happy Holidays to all!

When people ask me if I am afraid of things happening in Baja, I always reply
"Yes, I'm afraid someone will break into my house when I'm gone" I feel safer in Baja than I do in Salt Lake City.

In October of 1998, I was meeting some friends in Southern Utah to do some mountain biking near the town of Green River. I was a day earlier than them, so I decided to drive the dirt road south from Green River along the river and explore that area as I had never been down there before. I inquired as to the road conditions as it had rained for several days before and was told that it was too slick even for 4wd because of the wet clay. I decided to go to a different area that was safe to go by myself. That was on a Thursday.
That Sunday, on the road that I had opted not to explore, a county grader operator was ambushed and killed by a whacked out survivalist from northern Idaho who was camped out down there. He shot the guy with a .22
rifle and stole $20.00 out of his wallet. He was later apprehended in a motel in Green River. Upon his arrest he threatened to kill the President, so he is now behind bars. I have never had that experience in Baja. Not even close.
There have been several other murders and people ending up missing in Southern Utah.
