We'll be there 12/19-12/24 maybe out to Maria, our last outing there was in 02' with 20 hrs stuck in silt just west of Cono, handiman jack shot out and split a guys head open. So needless to say we are looking for a re-match with some paitence. F-350 6-pac with a cab-over camper'
BarryA got lots of cloth and resin, duct tape and some dingleberries!
We escaped Weaverville last week and wont be back till Feb.
Latter

Oladulce, Looks good!
If I recall the road up from the south was good up to Maria, then turned to crap 3 or 4 miles north, I dont plan on taking the big rig past Maria, but I will go on Mt. bike to check out the spot where we were stuck in 02'
Mercy!

fellas, the road wont be the only hazard to navigation. from one of the forecasts for midweek:

Today, models have kicked this system up a notch; actually make that about three or four notches. This powerful system is now posted in NWS warnings, which considering their conservative nature on swell prediction is impressive. The NWS is warning of high surf and coastal flooding potential. The WAM model runs today are showing this system now building into an astonishing large system with 18+ second periods, and surf that could reach 20+ feet on the faces at direct west facing breaks. Now, bear in mind that we?re still dealing with some 48h+ models, and we?ll need to confirm this in the next couple of days. Nevertheless, significant swell is imminent; we just need to see if this system builds to a 10-15 foot swell-maker, or, as some models suggest today, a 20-25 foot surf pounder. To err on the side of conservative predictions, our call could be for 12-14 foot face heights at west facing breaks.

Good advice it was woody!, Just got home from 2 months in Baja. We started out at 7 sisters and scored a couple of days of clean head high point waves on the third day(tuesday antes navidad) the surf went big! We saw waves breaking in deep water off of Punta Negra(outer point not the litehouse point) and they broke halfway across the bay! out of my league but it was something to witness. and camp on the dry sand we did, I was impressed with the accuracy of the swell forecasting. We also scored in southern baja thru Jan.
