I went down to cabo pulmo today to do some scuba diving. On the second dive I hit the jack pot. As I was swimming along the reef six huge mero's
appeared and not a one was under 200#. I checked them out and they checked me out then off they went. Each time I dive cabo pulmo it just amazes me
the amount of life on the reef's. It reminds me of the sea of cortez 25 years ago. Sure is nice to have a place like it around and I tip my hat to
the people of cabo pulmo for keeping it like that. Fishin Rich

It does my heart good to hear that those beauties are still there!
In 1973 I parked my plane on a little strip and swam out to the reef. Went back several times for some great diving. Oh what honor to be able to see

Wonderful story. Reminded me of a dive I made with Mike Mahlstad, then the divemaster on the old Baja Explorador, about 20 years ago. We were at
Isla Catalan, and in the late afternoon, after the "serious" dives were done, Mike asked me to go with him to collect clams for the famous Explorador
clam pizza. We were in about 60fsw on a flat, barren sandy bottom loaded with clams. Mike and I were filling bags with big chocolate clams, head
down, when I looked up at him and noticed a very large mero (bigger than him, I would estimate 250-300#), literally looking over his shoulder quietly
watching what he was doing. Naturally I had no camera (very rare for me) so I couldn't record it. But it was a great experience watching this huge
curious fish checking us out. He stayed with us til the bags were full and we headed up. One of my many fond memories of some 500 dives in the Sea
of Cortez.

David, can you use regular old fashioned film type photos for your site or do they have to be digital.
The kids are still trying to teach me digital, but when the old Nikon comes out and they see the results then they back off the new age demands.

scanned, put on CD-R, then send around as dig files. i do it all the time (fellow Nikon nut) i have not bought a dig camera, and its easy to convert
film. do it and post your good stuff here.

web page to show your photos. I do not have a digital camera either.

You can take your negatives to Wal Mart and they will put up to 100 35MM shots on a CD for less than $4. YES! Less than $4... Bob H

I do remember the great number of langostas at Isla Catalan. I also came across several nice "glory holes" at Coronado but I doubt that I could find
them now! The good old days!
