Doc. says they are well on the way to paving the road to La Gringa! :?: :?: :( :(, and the road to Las Animas is being graded.

When I was there on Dec 29th-30th, the road to La Gringa was under LOTS of contruction with several crews working on different sections with heavy equipment.

I didn't go to Las Animas this trip, can't comment on that.

Yep, lots of work on the La Gringa road, lots of new signs -- and plus all those "yacht rest stops" on the highway on the way in.

I was wondering about those. Are they really rest stops? I guess they work, I used one for a lunch break. ;D They were not there in March when I was last in Bahia.

Here is one of the paved pulloffs on the L.A. Bay road, last October... At least that is something usefull... instead of a million signs announcing the kilometers to the Escalera Nautica! Most of which have been torn down...

Yes, road crew was working on the road to Playa San Rafael over Christmas (05). The work stops shortly south of PSR. The road from BoLA to PSR is in great condition. They are laying down new concrete pads in many of the vados. I kept laughing, though, wondering how long until erosion would make the vados useless.

By the way, road south of PSR to SF pretty torn up and washed out.
