Since the north winds have been blowing for the last four days here in buena vista my neighbor decided to go to cabo tuna fishing. After boating two
nice tuna they trolled through a school of porpoise and tail hooked one. It almost spooled the reel before they turned the boat and began to run it
down. There was a large bow in the line and finally it became taught again and when they saw deep color they expected to see a porpoise but instead
there was a 65# yellowfin attached to the lure. The lure must have come off the tail of the porpoise and was eatin by the tuna. Just another
fishing tale. fishin rich

How sweet! Just when you thought that it was a limp line. What a nice surprise. How was Punta Chivato? Is the hotel still going strong? I have
friends there.

I stopped in for a beer at PC a few weeks ago and noticed that the beach front took quite a pounding from Marty. It nearly took the outdoor bar with
it. They said the bar was covered in crabs and clams after the storm. It didn't look too busy for a saturday night so we went to the pig roast in
Mulege.

It was in the mid '70's I believe, when a major El Nino blew through the eastern Pacific and waters warmer than normal were sucked into the mouth of
the Sea of Cortez and worked their way up the gulf. The normally prevailing yellowtail were replaced by yellow fin tuna in portions of the Sea of
Cortez. We were in Bahia de Los Angeles for a period and tuna were pretty much everywhere. This was a year where I didn't bring my tin boat and we
went our with Sammy's boys daily.
The technique for catching tuna we learned from the pro?s, was to hook up with a pod of dolphin and troll in the midst of them. This was a shock to
us as we considered dolphin in a whole other mindset than we did "fish." But we did this for several days and brought in and canned many 20-30 pound
yellow tail. Never snagged a dolphin. I was nervous the entire time. The guides told us the hooks would rust out after a few days in the saltwater.
Nevertheless it wasn?t fun fishin?.

While I was at chivato the north winds were blowing so the only fishing or diving was out in front of the hotel which I did for two days. looked to
be only two people staying at the hotel and the grounds were in good shape. Nothing but pesky barracuda in the bay. Even caught two at one time,
one on each of the rapalas hooks. fishin rich

I have heard good and bad about the Hotel. Were the prices reasonable? They have done a good job rebuilding it. I was there when it was kind of run
down...but I think that I liked it better then. I have x-in laws that live there in P.C. really pretty place!
