I hope no one minds that I copy the Score thread. Best wishes to the "Down Rider". I'm sure any Nomad help would be appreciated.

"?Rider Down? was the call that came over the radio. 401x team member Darin Hayes left the starting line at 6:05 AM. When the green flag dropped, he went through the gears, but unfortunately his race ended quickly as he crashed less than four miles into the race. The SCORE helicopter provided immediate transport to an air ambulance waiting at the San Felipe airport. In a matter of minutes he was on his way to a San Diego hospital, where he underwent spinal surgery. Darin is currently paralyzed from the waist down and has a long period of difficult rehabilation ahead of him. His doctors are giving him a 25% chance of regaining the use of his legs. On a personal note, I know what a great competitor and athlete Darin is and I believe he will beat these odds and overcome this tragedy. An active motorcycle enthusiast for most of his life, Darin and good friend Alan Baron were set to compete in the 2006 SCORE series. Darin has a lifetime of athletic accomplishment. He was a competitive water skier with many regional and national titles, as well as a speed skier and Catalina Ski Race competitor. Darin is a strong family man. He and his wife Julie have three daughters - Jenna, Jessica and Dalton. Please help our friend with his recovery. We have set up the Darin Hayes Recovery Foundation Trust Fund to raise money and help him with the tough road of rehabilitation that lies ahead.
