Our old friend the Brisa del Mar Trailer Park on the beach just outside of San Jose del Cabo has been sold for future condo development. The
neighboring condos have been encroaching for years and the once tranquil area has become very urbanized, so the park's time was up.
We are sad to see it go because that is where we fell in love long ago, and then spent many a yearly vacation with our family. Stayed there for
several months last year while we were building our house too. We loved the pounding surf and didn't mind the proximity to San Jose and all it had to
offer. I always thought it was the best on-the-beach trailer park of its type in baja.
Permanant residents are being told how many months they have left before the dozers roll in. I do not know the fate of the restaurant as yet.

That will be one of those "I remember when" for a lot of us as we pass the new condos
We, also, spent most of our first visits there, in the rooms. Back then all the fishermen came there to tell their tales at the end of the day. That
was my first encounter with a red haired Mexican...a fishermen aptly named Fisher...looked as Irish as anyone I have ever met.
I had been hearing rumblings of the sale. Hope that Tad can keep the restaurant.
As mentioned in another post, it wont be long until there will be no RV parks left.

Tad? When we stayed there for a month in Nov. '97 the owner's name was John (American) While there 2 summers ago? They had pretty much ruined the
RV park, dug up the big pool, put a Palapa Bar on our RV spot.....it just wasn't the same feel. All good things must come to an end I guess.

Tad, who used to be the chef at Tulipan, is now running the restaurant at the Brisa. He does a nice job. Just hope that he can stay through at
least another season.

Here's to the passing of another place carrying the memories of friends long since past:
Some of my Baja mentors... Newt & Alene Vinther and Howard and Millie Heaton... who used to frequent there many years ago. All live on in the
hearts and memories of those they influenced with their adventures, stories, and kindness.
Dr. Sergio Rodriguez Barrhona (sp?) practices medicine in Yakima, WA., USA because of befriending a sick amigo (Newt) there at the park many many
years ago... Newt introduced Sergio and I via mail... (pre Email days...), believing we had much in common.
Sergio came to Idaho and visited me.... I introduced him to another Dr. friend in Spokane, who helped Sergio establish another residency (required for
Mx. Dr. to practice in US... amongst other things...).... And... Sergio, his wife, and kids live and work helping people in Yakima, WA. - with a
very large Mx.-American and migrant population now (at least last I heard).
And it all started with simple kindness at Brisa del Mar... and ensuing friendships... a couple of decades ago.
I remember camping out in my VW camper van down the hwy a bit at Shipwreck Beach.... thinking "I have the solitude, the beach, and the view.... but
Newt and Howard and "the girls" (then in their 60's) certainly have the luxury!!"
Not that my fellow nomads have an inkling of interest in my wandering old tale... but it is amazing to me.... how we make connections in this life...
with people and with places.

Very nice story, a place to be remembered, also shipwreck and the afternoon volleyball, all good memories, its good that we have them, and since I'm
on it when we first came to the Baja 23 years ago everyone said we were to late its was already spoiled, It looks like we are there again, by our
thinking but the new people discovering Baja will still think its Paradise, and it is.
