First Cruise Ship arrives

bajajudy - 4-9-2006 at 08:54 AM

Yes, my friends, when we went to the beach this morning there were two buses sitting with their engines idling, air condtioners on, waiting for the first inflatables to arrive with passengers from the MS Hanseatic. Their last port o call being Acapluco. All Germans, or at least the ones we spoke to, headed into San Jose to shop....Yikes.

Also all access to the beaches blocked so the nationals cannot get to them for Semana Santa. Of course that did not keep us from making our way to Ranchito Arroyo for our walk but it wasnt easy and without 4x4, we could not have made it.

Also they have filled in the big, no make that huge, arroyo down from the lighthouse. This has some of the swiftest currents during a hurricane and is one of the feeders from all the hills around La Playa. What are they thinking.....or I forgot $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Gotta run. mas mas tarde:barf:

Here is a web pic of the ship.

bajajudy...we have seen some changes...

Pompano - 4-9-2006 at 09:22 AM

..and I feel your pain about losing some of that old Baja tranquillity..some of our favorite camping places Up North have become cruise destinations these last few years, too.

Not much we can do about it, so we watch the action.

Pompano - 4-9-2006 at 09:37 AM

Yes..Alaskan summers are mostly sunshine 24 hours...when it's not raining or foggy!

Paula - 4-9-2006 at 09:40 AM

Pompano, those German folk will be taking home a lot of North Dakota jokes!
Did you borrow the montains from Montana or Wyoming?:D:D

OOOOhhhh... I never thought of Alaska, thought you had a really good flash!

Pompano,
I almost had forgotten-- my daughter and I drove through North Dakota in September 2003 on our way to Cleveland. We came on the high line, hwy 2, all the way across MT and ND. What we both remember is that there is no coffee to be found east of East Glacier. We also remember the drivethrough carwash/winery, but we don't remember which state it was in-- due to the lack of coffee. And we remember eating dinner in the Alien BBQ place in Fargo, an unforgettable experience. We didn't see any rattlesnakes on the whole trip- not even passing through Chicago.
Meg was so distraught over the lack of lattes that she chose to just stay in Cleveland, and lives there still. I drove back all by myself through South Dakota, and saw Badlands Park, the Corn Palace, AND Wall Drug. One sees many Wall Drug bumper stickers in Montana, so I had thought it must be quite a place. This Montanan was not disappointed!
So, I think I may pass on visiting North Dakota again, as it was truly a once in a lifetime experience.

My apologies to anyone who may have read all this as it it clearly not about cruise ships. I'll try to do better at staying on topic from now on...

neilm...I was getting too far off topic again, so I deleted the rattler post. (it was an 'unusual' experience, hence the shorts)

..now back to bajajudy's cruise ships.

Odd coincidence...News just reported this minute about another cruise passenger gone missing...this thing a young gal. NOT enroute to Baja...at least I don't think so. Weird things happening lately on some cruise liners
