yakfish - 11-15-2003 at 12:34 PM

still cant make heads or tails of it::(

Bajabus - 11-15-2003 at 01:01 PM

yak, the resulting table is telling you the heights in millimeters at GMT times.

For instance leaving the default dates you see the first two lines as Jan 1st. (the jan 1st appears at the extreme right of the second line down). Reading across the first line you get tide height for the first 12 hours, the second line is the next 12 hours.

does that help at all? please feel free to post any questions. None are to stupid to ask.

still dont understand,please help

Stephanie Jackter - 11-16-2003 at 12:22 AM

Geez. How complicated do they have to make a silly tide chart? I'll see if I can find you something better. - Stephanie

yakfish - 11-16-2003 at 12:29 AM

8 hours is the differance fromGMT to pacific but I still dont understand this chart. I have another chart that has Ensanada and its in english wonder how much difference from there to SanQuintin anybody know :?:

Guess your google's as good as mine.

Stephanie Jackter - 11-16-2003 at 12:38 AM

That was all I could find too. They have really easy to understand ones for bigger cities like La Paz. Sorry. - Stephanie

tide table

yakfish - 11-16-2003 at 12:40 AM

I launch my kayak from the beach 15miles or so south of San Quintin to fish the kelp beds there knowing what the tides are doing and when will keep me from experiancing ROGUE WAVE type situation,AGAIN. hopefully!!!!!:light:

Again? Hope you didn't get a boat on top of you like M.

Stephanie Jackter - 11-16-2003 at 01:07 AM

C'mon. What's yer story? - Stephanie

yakfish - 11-16-2003 at 01:51 AM

My brothers and I launched our Kayaks from a beach we had never been to before, didnt check the tides and didnt know what the bottom was like near shore, water was a little murky couldnt see a big rock just under the water 20 ft from shore My brothers and I sat on the beach watching the sets counting them and judging there hight. looked safe enough and in we went. thought we were gonna make it when all of a sudden instead of 2-3 ft waves that we could have paddled over my brother Bob is looking at a 6-8 ft wave witch flips him over, Kayak hits him in the head too boot. I go in to help and grab his Kayak when I get pounded into that rock I didnt see.My brother finds the rock also. after nearly drowning Bob and I swim our Kayaks out past that waves and climb on. My other brother gets on his Kayak and the waves are back down to 2-3 ft and he paddles right on through and says whats the big deal. When we came back in that day at low tide you could see every rock that was there. I dont think we would have launched there had we known. could have been worse. Bob and I are still sport'n scars from that rock 2 years later.

OUCH!

yak, your table lost some of it's formatting when you inserted it in this thread but this may help. leave the default dates and click on the SQ dot.

the first line first entry is 854 millimeters at zero hours, then 990 millimeters the next hour, then 1034 millimeters the next hour and so on.

the third line is the begining of the next day.

well at least thats how I think it reads.

Yakfish-

from "Bufeo"

Here try this link:

www.baja-web.com/sanqui/tides-ms.htm

baja-web.com has a pretty complete list of tide charts.

Anonymous - 11-16-2003 at 10:47 AM

Yakfish,

"Bufeo" again.

I forgot to caution that you should check the Year on the tide chart that pops up. I've noticed that sometimes the date at the top doesn't correspond to the real calendar year.

I get our tide charts through the www.sanfelipe.com.mx site and then adjust for Punta Bufeo.

tide table

yakfish - 11-16-2003 at 01:50 PM

the dates im looking for are 11/27/03 through 11/29/03 witch is what I got but it makes no sence to me. can someone translate or direct me to another site. Or tell me If there will be a differance between Ensanada and San Quintin. THANKS:?:

Bajabus - 11-16-2003 at 02:18 PM

yak,
on the 27th GMT time low tide at 1:49
high tide at 8:10
low tide at 12:22
high tide at 18:53

on the 28th
low at 2:45
high at 9:22
low at 13:23
high at 19:52

on the 29th
low at 3:43
high at 10:36
low at 15:02
high at 21:06

look at the bottom most table generated and compare it to what I wrote and you will see how to read the high and low tides.

good luck and stay off the rocks.

yakfish - 11-16-2003 at 02:33 PM

the year is 2000 on that link when I go to there home page and then click on that link the year is 2002 tide chart does that matter :?:

yakfish - 11-16-2003 at 02:37 PM

on the 27th GMT time low tide at 1:49
high tide at 8:10
low tide at 12:22
high tide at 18:53
Do I now have to account for GMT being 8 hours different then pacific. Or did they already do that on this table:?:

Bajabus - 11-16-2003 at 02:52 PM

Yak those times are GMT you need to adjust by 8 hours.

yakfish - 11-16-2003 at 09:34 PM

I got a tide chart of Ensanada and after converting the other chart from GMT to Pac. aprox 8hours it matches up. so now I understand how to read the chart. but the Ensanada chart is close enough to work THANKS for all the replies. Ill post a report of my trip when I get back. :bounce:

Bajabus - 11-16-2003 at 09:35 PM

no problem Yak, have fun and please be safe.

Hey Yak!!

Bedman - 11-17-2003 at 12:47 AM

Drop an Email to Gene Allshouse, owner of San Quintin Sport Fishing. His email is Book4fish@aol.com. He always has a Great tide chart in English and Feet and it's specifically for San Quintin. OR.....Stop by the Wet Buzzard at Cielito Lindo and see a copy of his for the month OR ask him to print you one out and leave it with his wife for you to pick up on your way through. A really nice guy and his wife makes the best mex food in the area at the Wet Buzzard.

Thanks hadn't thought of that. I have met Gene. I usually stop at gypsy's while down there too have been to a few pig roasts there and have fished with San Quintin sportfishing too. I will be launching to fish just inside the bay on the first day. I take that road out from right there by Gypsy's out to the point where some of the pangas launch. Breakfast borritos here I come. THANKS:lol:
