FM3 signing out at Guerro Negro going North

Phil S - 5-9-2006 at 09:05 PM

Had pleasant experience signing out at Guerro Negro at the "on the highway stop" at immigration. Lady officer signed both our FM3's & was very friendly. Numerous inspections on the way north by the soldiers. All quite polite and I still think it is our magnetic Vagabundo Del Mar signs on both sides of the doors that helps "grease us through".
Never a problem in the past 15 years of coming & going.
Love Vagabundo's Del Mar Travel Club.

Why did she 'sign' them?

If you are going to the states they need to be signed going out and returning, the easiest place for Baja Sur People is Guerro Negro.

Really? I have never been asked either way.
What do you do if they are closed or it's Sunday?

Is that just with your FM3 and not FMT?

FM2 and FM3's are supposed to be singed out and in. Not a big deal if not done unless renewal time is near and you won't be in country to do your renewal. If you've got it signed out, you have 15 days after return to do the renewal with out penalties. Nothing to be done on FMTs.

Was that you guys in a couple of SUVs on the way to Puerto Santo Tomas the middle of Easter week? Saw the Vags stickers. If so, that was me hiking the road with the two kids.

No, ONLY FM2's. There are no movement/travel restrictions with FM3's. However, with an FM2 you have immigrado status and are required to sign out/in when you leave/return to Mexico (not a Mexican State) AND are limited to the amount of time spent abroad.

BCS is the only Mexican State that requires this (illegal) BS. The question is why?

...now

I asked about this last year and the IMM office in Santa Rosalia told me you don't have to have the FM3 signed anymore.

OK, If you're not going to be in Mex. when renewal time comes, you will be penalized for late renewal if you have NOT signed out your FM3. (or FM2). Just the chance I might not be back to me this is plenty of reason to have it signed out.

Diver. She sort of looked p.g., but then again, might have had the baby and was recent enough to only look 5-6 months p.g.
After all the years of going down, and getting different information about FM3's from different locations of immigration, I'm going to continue getting it stamped out somewhere before heading into the u.s.a. They even say in Loreto, "we'll stamp you out, and you won't have to stop on the way north!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was probably our easiest drive north of all the years we've driven. Last trip north in December, I dropped off a dart board & six darts at one of them. Decided I'll go Sunrise Enterprise & Salvation Army GoodWill, and see if any more are available & will take them south with me in October. Anyone else done this? Good diversion for their off hours. Though I've been told if you really want to get their attention, take some Playboy issues with you. Or would Sunset Magazine be better for them?

Anyone going north and stopping at that immigration stop can say hello to Magda, (the pregnant woman) She was a student of mine at UABCS in Guerrero Negro and a lovely lady indeed, very friendly and helpful. She would get a kick out of you knowing her name...and tell her Hi from Shari too....also those guys working there are far from a store so if you have an extra soda for them they would really like that...
