Working withing forum rules

Osprey - 7-26-2006 at 07:35 AM

As far as I know none of the regular posters on this board use speech writers or have press secretaries. They all know their words on the posts will be etched in steel for all eternity. The "Quote" tool is used quite often to remind or highlight someone's past thoughts or expressions or behavior. I still out of most verbal fistfights -- I like to watch what happens from the sidelines. I think I could, would contribute more if I had a press secretary or some way of taking back, smoothing out what I said a month ago or yesterday. Sooo maybe I can stay on budget (without hiring someone to help me) and stay within the rules if I use a DISCLAIMER. "I'm a liar. A liar and a storyteller. I'm also an agitator, a pot stirrer. I've always been that way. It's not my fault. I really don't think much before I speak. I can't help myself. I probably will never change. I might get worse." END OF DISCLAIMER.

Now I feel better. Maybe now I can be more active on the board. I sure hope this doesn't get deleted somehow because I don't want to have to do it again every week or so.

That would call for a "Disclaimer Disclaimer". I'll u2u on that one.

Bruce, you have given me an idea. At no charge I will take your questionable posts and quotes, massage them, rewrite them, tell the world what you "really" meant. That offer goes out to the whole board except for the crazy people (nobody really knows what they think). You know who you are.

Don Jimmy would agree with everything you said!

He liked your stories too and so do I.

Brilliant, Osprey. Posting here is just like getting arrested -- everything you say can and will be used against you.

jimgrms - 7-26-2006 at 11:24 AM

Osprey i think your disclaimer would work for the majority of the human race

Reminds me of the ancient adage:

"I am a Cretan; all Cretans are liars.

But there is one person who above all, truly represents the pinnacle of (mis)command of the language.

A veritable Master of the Malaprop; his some knowledge of the list of false cognates is, for all intensive purposes, without peer.

I'm sorry but yours is quite poultry in comparison.

I cant imagine who that could be or that there is even a person that is worse than I.:lol:
