Nicole - 7-28-2006 at 03:39 PM

Hello - me again...
Still pining for the peninsula! Have settled on Spa Buena Vista as the future home for our little family. Please drop me a line if you know of any lots (however small) for sale in the $20,000 range.
Cheers, Nicole.

We too fell in love with the Los Barriles, Spa area. I suggest you contact in Ruth Rundquist and get her list of lots for sale in the area. There were good size lots in Los Barriles and Baja Martires and some tiny lots in Spa. Ruth also has some lots in La Ribera for sale. Good luck, Joanna

What would be your means of support?:?:

Nicole - 7-28-2006 at 11:00 PM

If by support you mean how will we pay the bills...the plan is to do contract work in Canada for six to eight months a year as we have a one year old daughter and would like her to know her cousins, etc. Then, while in Baja, I will work over the internet as a medical transcriptionist. We will start by building a casita and then later when we have the money to build a larger structure we will rent the casita out for extra income. If anyone has any ideas about services or retail ventures that are needed in the area please let us know. We are pretty resourceful, with varied backgrounds/training, and are fast learners!

Yes, but this is a thing (remote server) even the US would not be able to prove. To the extent of my knowledge, except for log on/off files there is no paper trail. Well, except your pay check:D

you are using a Canadian Sat Service to log onto the server....

The guy running the largest off shore online gambling venture said he was in the clear as he was NOT in the US. The justice department arrested him in Dallas and charged him. He's probably out on bail. Bottom line, tell the Mexican Government what you are doing and pay the taxes OR, and that is a BIG 'or', have enough bail money available.

My wife does ceramics, mainly decals, but also some handpainted tilework. She has all her paperwork in order and, according to the bookkeeper, is too small to give facturas, and ,again, according to him, has only to fork over to Hacienda, 2% of her gross sales. She has her stuff in several shops in town here, but she likes to keep it just a hobby.

vandenberg - 7-30-2006 at 02:54 PM

Larry,
The decals are bought from an American supplier. They are than transfered to Mexican blank tiles and fired in a kiln. Result is a permanent transfer.

Paula - 7-30-2006 at 06:34 PM

Not only can you buy ceramic decals, but you can but equipment and materials for making your own. they can be used alone or combined with other decoration methods. I've never used them but a friend has.

Vandenberg, I'd like to talk with your wife in the fall about selling art in Loreto without violating local law, as I wasn't sure it could be done.

vandenberg - 7-31-2006 at 07:14 AM

Paula,
We're leaving for the States this week and will be back in 2 months. Will have my wife contact you than.

Paula - 7-31-2006 at 07:19 AM

Thanks, Vandenberg, I'll be looking forward to it!
