bajalera - 9-15-2006 at 02:25 PM

My prayers are with you, Bruce--wish I had a plane to help out.

FARASHA - 9-15-2006 at 02:26 PM

OMG !!!!!
HOW BAD IS IT? Sorry to hear that.

Bruce R Leech - 9-15-2006 at 02:28 PM

I sulld give some more info This happened a little more than week ago and she is in pretty good shape but she seems to be losing the use of one eye and she is getting headaches and the Paine around the aria is not going away. so I am getting real concerned about what is going on inside of her head. I took here to the doctors here and in Santa Rosalia and they looked at her and said she needs glasses.

FARASHA - 9-15-2006 at 02:36 PM

As a Nurse I would guess that one of the visual nerves was affected by the trauma. Or she had a build up of an haematoma, intra cranial = bleeding inside the skull, or behind her eyes ( in the socket)
Would explain the delayed symptoms, and the headache.
Youe are right, in getting her asap to an Tomography for her head.
What about the Flying doctors??!!!

Natalie Ann - 9-15-2006 at 02:40 PM

Nothing to do with ME! Just thought I'd point out the fact that Bruce needed help. Is that BS? This sight is getting sorta strange. U2U's about off the wall stuff? Come on??

toneart - 9-15-2006 at 04:00 PM

Bruce,
Have you checked at The Serenidad to see if a private plane can airlift you and your daughter? Better get north one way or the other quickly before you are in the grip of Hurricane Lane.

Cypress - 9-15-2006 at 04:11 PM

Soulpatch is giving some good advice! Good luck and God speed!

Bruce R Leech - 9-15-2006 at 04:15 PM

thank you all I am getting so much help I cant answer everything I am trying to make connections work together and I need all the suggestions you give me. each one opens new options. right now I am really leaning toward soulpatchs Idea

bajabound2005 - 9-15-2006 at 04:22 PM

Get her to San Diego pronto. If you need help we can meet you in Ensenada.

Cypress - 9-15-2006 at 04:29 PM

Can you hitch a rid on one of those military choppers coming to and fro?

DENNIS - 9-15-2006 at 04:33 PM

I offer what BajaBound said. Get her close to us and we will do the rest to get her to emergency care.

Just give the word.

Bruce R Leech - 9-15-2006 at 05:06 PM

I am going to Drive up to Ensenada and we are going to check in at a hospital there and get an MRI done then I will need a ride with My daughter to San Deagoon Wednesday morning to catch a flight to Denver for more care.

bajabound2005 - 9-15-2006 at 05:18 PM

Bruce, why Denver?

bajajudy - 9-15-2006 at 05:37 PM

Bruce,
God speed. I wish I could do something to help but my prayers will have to do.
Take care of her and yourself.
But I have to agree. She needs to see a specialist asap. Get on a bus if you are too nervous to drive....but move. This storm could do anything.
We are all with you.

bancoduo - 9-15-2006 at 05:39 PM

Drive to San Diego and go to childrens hospital. They are great, they saved my daughters life who suffered head trauma.

bajabound2005 - 9-15-2006 at 06:24 PM

Bruce, you get to Ensenada - we'll get you to a hospital in San Dee or the airport, your choice - but we vote with the rest of the Nomads: Children's Hosp in San Dee.

Bruce R Leech - 9-15-2006 at 06:29 PM

thank you all for your quick Nomad like caring and Help I have received many offers of help and cash to help us out. we don't need the cash and you save it for some one who will. but the offer are really nice from all of you. what we needed was advice and support and boy did we get it . I have never had so many really good Friends some Nomads are helping us to make this happen and I know you all would if you could. and many offered that I could not except because I could not possibly need so many round trips. the reason I need to go to Denver is I have Family there and that can help allot at times like this also it is the hospital that I know can do what is needed for my daughter. I will keep you posted on how things are going and our progress when ever I can.

it was 1005% nomads that helped us out and all Nomads can be proud .

God Bless you all
Bruce

DENNIS - 9-15-2006 at 07:19 PM

Bruce ----
Which hospital in Ensenada?
The military hospital is open to the public and by our standards, considered good.
Holler if you need directions.

Burboa hospital do you know anything about it? any info would be good I don't Know anything about the hospitals up there. I was told that Burboa hospital was the only One with an MRI.

DENNIS - 9-15-2006 at 07:48 PM

Burboa?
Never heard of it. That doesn't mean it isnt out there.
Hospital Valmar [ Velmar] is downtown and hires good doctors. Good, as well as good-and-expensive. ISSTECALI --- a mile away --- good.
Cruz Roja --- bring your own body bag.

My choice would be the military hospital. Very competent doctors and the prices are a gift. If they dont have an MRI, they know where one is.

Bruce --- This city is full of doctors. Marine scientists as well. The local schools produce them as fast as they can qualify them and that only takes four years. It floods the market with mediocrity. Look for a time tested institution, such as the military hospital. They arn,t pretty but they are good.
Let me know if you're interested.

bruce

jerry - 9-15-2006 at 07:49 PM

Gods speed and all the luck in the world to ya
your in our prayers

bajabound2005 - 9-15-2006 at 07:57 PM

Bruce, check your email. Military Hosp - we've heard horror stories. The hosp you mention , we've never heard of. We vote for Velmar and pardon us, Dennis, but expensive? Compared to what? We've sent many emergency turistictos there and they raved about the treatment and the price because your US insurance is no good here....The ISSTE's you have to be careful as they are designated for certain segments of the population (I think)....like government workers or something. Bruce, let's just get her here and on to San Diego. Any treatment in SD has to be cheaper than airfare to Denver!

[Edited on 9-16-2006 by bajabound2005]

longlegsinlapaz - 9-15-2006 at 08:05 PM

When I first read Bruce's comment, I figured he meant Balboa....I'm not a CA person, but isn't there a Balboa hosp in San Diego? I KNOW there is a Balboa freeway!

DENNIS - 9-15-2006 at 08:16 PM

Balboa hospital in S.D. is navy.

Excuse me BB, but horror stories are the face of medicine. I've been to the military hospital and treated well. My friend recently had a kidney removed there and he was treated well.
I dont compare local prices of anything to prices in the U.S. We're here and there is there. When I say expensive, it's relative to the local economy.
I agree with you wholeheartedly when you say take the problem to the states but, if a pit-stop is needed, it may as well be in a good place.

Bruce; you have to listen to this guy. help is there in SD. You have a chubasco coming. LEAVE NOW!

DENNIS - 9-15-2006 at 08:56 PM

Bruce ---
You'll never get any better advice than that......... Start the car.

Been away a day... sorry.... a sad death in our furry family.

We're concerned about you and your daughter, my friend.

We'll be keeping you in our prayers. Let us know if we can do anything for you.

I have dear friends in Boulder who are a doctor / naturopath couple... Sweet folk who have kids and know how you're feeling. If you get in a jam for $, I'll be the first one to pitch in and help rally the Nomad troops.

Take care of the prioities, then let us know how your daughter and you are doing.

BRUCE-BANCOUDO AND DENNIS-

IST. BRUCE GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE --BANCOUDO AND DENNIS AND I THINK ALL YOUR FRIENDS WOULD AGREE--

2ND. YOU HAVE HAD SOME EXCELLENT ADVISE - ESPECIALLY ABOUT HEAD INJURIES--EYE PROBLEMS-INTERNAL BLEEDING ETC.
NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO WORRY ABOUT OTHER THAN FAMILY.

3RD. WHERE YOU CHOOSE TO GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IS YOUR BUSINESS--BUT BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN SOME GOOD ADVISE ON THIS SITE--VERY DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO MAKE INQUIRIES WHERE YOU ARE--IN TIMES OF REAL CRISIS--SAME THING HERE- IN USA. ENOUGH SAID

Bruce.....the best childrens hospitals in the world are in So. Cal......and you have Family there (Nomad's!) just get in the car and go! I know someone will meet you and help with anything you might need. I'm saying a prayer for your Daughter....Hugs, Debra

bajadogs - 9-16-2006 at 12:41 AM

Debra's right. San Diego has the best. It's much quicker than trying to figure out how to get to Denver. Don't mess around when it comes to a head injury. I can help you out if you come to SD.

FARASHA - 9-16-2006 at 02:37 AM

I JUST HOPE BRUCE IS ON HIS WAY, no good in delaying it.
Hopefully it's all rather for nothing, then a worst case scenario.

FARASHA - 9-16-2006 at 06:11 AM

BRUCE HOW IS YOUR LITTLE ONE DOING ??
Any change in symptoms?
I'm not being pushy, or patronising you, just worried when it comes to overseeing anything !
Have seen it too many times at work.

Bruce R Leech - 9-16-2006 at 06:33 AM

Thank you.
She is doing good except for a headache and blurred vision in one eye she looks and Acts like a normal 7 year old girl we need to go to Denver Because I am A Colorado resident and my insurance coverage is for only certain hospitals there. We are getting lots of help from Nomads I just cant believe how much. I will let you all know how things are going. we are trying to get out of here now.

Thanks and God bless you

the buses are all full and it seems all the plans have left in front of the storm. they are working on the car now and hopefully they will get it together today or tomorrow and then I'm gone unless some one is going that way and I will go with them if I can. don't want to trust Mechanic's work on this trip if I don't half to.

Bruce R Leech - 10-6-2006 at 06:37 AM

Much thanks to all the Nomads that helped or wanted to help us with this problem. once again Nomads have shown that they are the best and always ready to help anyone when it is needed. many people don't understand the real value of this forum. if you have a problem in Baja or anywhere for that mater and you post it here. you will get help. after the storm and flood here in Mulege the first word of how bad it was and that we had severe problems came out from the Baja Nomad Forum. and it was Nomads that got help to come fast.

we are home now and every thing is just fine with Gregoria but I will never forget the help we received from all of you.
