Just got back from a quick dash down to Catavina.
Gas was erratic, I needed a small shot in San Quintin to make it to Antonio's in El Rosario..... "sorry, out of Magna, how about premium?"
The station in San Vicente was "on strike" whatever that means. Locals were getting the guys to pump for them, but through traffic was not enabled.
Gas was available in the proverbial barrels at Catavina, but, as usual, the pumps were covered.
And yes, Antonio, your new "Cualli" sign shines bright and clear above the station, and your guys were very prompt, courteous, window cleaning, and
all, as usual.
Now, can we just fix that damn urinal???
How many years can that black plastic stay wrapped around the porcelain?
And, the soap dispenser was busted....

Filled up in Maneadero yesterday. Worked out to $2.25/gallon when paying with pesos. And they cleaned the front AND back windows!

I had gassed up my Honda CRV in San Diego two days earlier and had spent a day driving around Guadalupe with one of my boys.
the little nasty yellow lite came on in Camalu, and we did not relish walking along the coast beyond Los Pinos, searching for a Texaco station (I
know that there are no Pemex stations down there)
and no, the CRV does not get great mileage....guess it is because I wail the little four banger along at 80 to keep up with the traffic. at a civil
pace it gets about 28, at my speeds about 24....

and, did you note that I only got enough to get to Antonio- like 50 pesos worth.
and yeah, sadly, I stand by my comments concerning the bano at El Rosario.... been two years seeing that urinal wrapped in black plastic.... too long

Antonio wants to build all new bathrooms at the station but he is prohibited until PEMEX gives the green light... He has done all the paperwork,
submissions, archetect drawings, etc.
Antonio owns the station, but 'government controlled' Pemex controls every aspect of a station's operation, such as shutting down Santa Rosalia for
repeated complaints of ripping off customers...

We just returned from a 21 day trip to Loreto with truck and trailer fully loaded with building supplies for the new "fishing shack". Fuel supplies
were plentiful until Guerrero Negro, where there was no Premium available.
We took on some Magna Sin in GN thinking there would be Premium in San Ignacio. HA!
As it turned out, there was no fuel at all, nothing, in San Ignacio. They said that the truck was delayed, and maybe there would be fuel the
next day.
We found a station attendant there who had stashed five gallons which we happily bought for $20.00!!
The Cuesta del Infierno (Hill of Hell) at the Tres Virgenes was more exciting than ever as we coasted into Santa Rosalia on the big "E".
The kid at the station in Santa Rosalia acted like he wasn't trying to rip us off when we pointed out that he had forgotten to turn the pump back. It
was showing 100 pesos.
We fueled and cruised on to Loreto and had a GREAT holiday with friends and compadres.
Also, a gracious thank you to Antonio's (Baja Cactus) guapo and helpful Daddy, Antonio Sr. and night manager Manuel (?)
who called the Hotel Sinhai and set us up with a safe spot to camp for the night. Those Baja Cactus boys are a class act!
Its gentle folk like them who keep me coming back.

This was at 'jr baja's place and if you recall, JR came to Baja to work on the Titanic movie set... After the movie was filmed (in Baja), JR stayed in
Baja and kept many of the props and for a while had a Titanic museum at the Rosarito Beach Hotel.
