Santa Barbara Beach - Bay of Conception

Visited Santa Barbara Beach today (just past coyote cove) to check out reports we've heard that the area is gonna be developed? Including a golf course? I did see heavy equipment on site, and road improvement work.

Would be very interesting to know how they plan to irrigate a golf course. Fleet of water tanker trucks? Salt tolerant grass?

Anyway, any Nomads in the know??

I have a place in Coyote Bay, have been visiting Santa Barbara cove/beach for many years. Very sorry to hear it is being developed, but it was inevitable. One good thing is the access is really tough, the canyon up to the hiway is very rugged and will take mucho heavy equipment to make a road. Sounds like they are on their way to doing just that. The water situation is limited, a golf course would push those limits I would guess. Vince

...it's been a few years, but some friends and I obtained the key to drive into Sta Barbara. Along the way there was what appeared to be wells for watering stock. Who knows the quantity or quality of the water there, if it's only being used for livestock..?? I have heard of the development and hate to see one of the best, and mostly private, beaches get developed. I have many fond memories from there ...

Ten years ago we kayaked to that beach from Coyote on a day trip. Later we attempted to find a way by truck, couldn't get there. We were told then by locals that the land was owned by the family of one of the previous Mexican presidents.

Viva Mexico!
