I am mostly a lurker on these forums. I am enchanted with Baja - always have been - growing up in San Diego. These forums are a great source of
information - thanks to all of you who make it great!
My wife and I have camped in Baja a little bit. Our longest trip to date was from Tijuana to Santispac Beach. That trip must have been in 2003(?)
Well, we have the itch again and we are planning to go all the way to La Paz this time.
Here's the plan so far:
Day 1: Tijuana to El Rosario (Punta Baja) 233 miles
Day 2: El Rosario to Bahia de Los Angeles 191 miles
Day 3: Stay for a day to play in B de LA
Day 4: Bahia de Los Angeles to Requeson 319 miles
Day 5: Stay for a day to play in Requeson
Day 6: Requeson to Playa Balandra 294 miles
Here are some questions:
1) I have Requeson on days 4 & 5 because I read on these forums that Santispac is no longer available for camping - do I have that right?
2) Can folks camp at Playa Balandra (near La Paz)?
3) If Playa Balandra is out, can someone suggest a nice beach to camp near La Paz? It can be north or south of La Paz.
4) Since days 4 & 5 are rather long drives, are there intermediate stops (beaches) to camp that anyone can recommend?
5) Can anyone make beach camping recommendations for the trip back north - so that we don't stay at the same places on the way home?

south of La Paz - La Ventana
east of La Paz - Tecolote
Coming north - alternatives for shorter days
Pabellon in San Quintin
Lakeside in San Ignacio
Rancho St Inez in Catavinia
Santispec was closing and they were tearing down palapas last month.
El Requeson, Coyote and others are still open as is Playa Naranga.

Someone reported that you can still camp at Santispac, even though they are tearing down the palapas.
Maybe consider Playa Naranjo, just north of there. Not quite as scenic but much quieter (no jake brakes) and very nice. Still very scenic. They have
these huge palapa structures for very cheap. Nice, when the wind comes up.
