Prime time

This is it! The gray whale moms and babies are getting ready to head north. The dads and others are already mostly gone. The babies are big now and very curious. Close encounters are the rule rather than the exception. Another 10 days to 2 weeks of prime time at Lopez Mateos. This shot of a baby whale was taken with a digital point and shoot from about 10 feet away. Most photo ops were from so close I couldn't get them all in the frame. In 2 hours I saw 12 breeches, I don't know how many spy hops, lots of rolling and playing, and I watched at least 20 people getting touches.

Great shot! Guess we need to turn around and head back south now! Can't ever see too many whales.
