David K- The instructions for posting a photo on PAINT worked great.

Gracias

David K - 12-30-2008 at 11:04 AM

Awesome fish there Lou!

Glad you got the method down...

If you get a photobucket.com account (free), then you can put your photos there and then post several at a time onto Nomad by copy and pasting the IMG link.

My first attempt at posting a photo...my hobby...love those plants!

dianaji - 3-8-2009 at 09:14 PM

guess it didn't work!*sigh*

David K - 3-8-2009 at 09:15 PM

http:// is the start and .jpg is the end of a photo url

On photobucket, copy the bottom link which is labled for posting on message boards... and paste it on Nomad...

this is my garden...want to make one in baja.

BajaNuts - 3-8-2009 at 09:36 PM

sorry to interject here,

I've been trying to post an avatar for weeks/months, it's smaller than the required size, but it never will post! It is a graphics image currently in Adobe Illustrator formats. I can't get it to upload to BN.

Is it denied because it's a jpeg, or eps or ai or what? I upload it to photobucket but I can't get it into the profile! I've tried all the "copy" urls offered by photobucket and it doesn'ed show up on BN.

I'm sure it's a technical thing

It's a graphics image as opposed to a photo picture. Thanks for any hints.

I think I've been following the directions, but maybe there's a problem with the format???

thanks-

David K - 3-8-2009 at 09:43 PM

Diana... congratulations! The under 50 kb. limit is ONLY for photos that you post on Nomad from YOUR PC files (using 'Browse').

You can post several photos in ONE post if they are hosted on another web site (photobucket.com or ???). They do not take up 'space' on Nomad's server if they are hot-linked from another site. However, please use the 800 pixel or smaller choices for uploading to photobucket... as bigger photos (over 800 pixels) will 'stretch' the page here (on normal size monitors) requiring one to scroll to the right to see and read the thread.

Baja Nuts: u2u or email Doug ('Baja Nomad') for help.

David K - 3-9-2009 at 04:38 PM

Anyone in San Diego North County who would like a free water saving irrigation estimate (drip systems or MP Rotator sprinklers, and 'Smart' controllers)... just send me a u2u!

If I am back at work, I will have money for Baja explorations to share with you all!

Thanks!

dianaji - 3-9-2009 at 04:43 PM

as i said, i do not want to sell it...it's just that not have it all. i will just wait until the universe decides where i must be...i'm not doing another thing until i am where i am supposed to be!

dianaji - 3-9-2009 at 04:50 PM

actually, guess i'm where i'm supposed to be right now, cause it's where i am...and must learn to trust...and it ain't easy.

Instead of posting a reduced size or reduced file size image from your PC to Nomad (using BROWSE)... Try the (FREE) photo hosting site Photobucket.com... and upload from your PC files to your own Photobucket album at less than 800 pixels wide... Here is a recent post trying to help some Nomads who are still posting GIANT images that stretch the Nomad page wide off the screen...

For Nomads who have been posting too big photos on Nomad... Doug has asked (and those with standard 15" monitors appreciate) to limit the pixel width to a max. of 800.

The sizing is done when you upload photos TO Photobucket from your PC. So, if you didn't do that already... and they are at the full size setting, they will stretch the Nomad pages wide (on normal monitors).

How to resize them with Photobucket, on your album page:

1) Click the red button 'UPLOAD' at the top of the Photobucket page.

2) At the top of the Upload box that appears, see (in small blue text): 'Customize your upload options', and click that.

3) Choose a reduced size. 640x480 is nice for most photos. I usually only go to the 800x600 size for maps for max. detail on Nomad.

4) At the bottom, click 'SAVE'! Thats it!!!

Now, until you change that setting, all photos will be uploaded to Photobucket at whatever reduced size you picked!

To post your photos on Nomad, use your mouse and copy the link called 'IMG Code', below the photo you want to show... and paste it onto Nomad where you type in your text... You can post several photos at a time, but I suggest not more than a dozen, and double space between each phot link. Specially if you add some captions under each photo.

Bump... I have edited a couple places where Photobucket instructions have changed... The one above is correct.

The 'New' Photobucket (2013)

David K - 2-3-2013 at 03:24 AM

Until they add (or I find it) an Upload Options feature for the new Photobucket:

HOW TO RESIZE PHOTOBUCKET PHOTOS FOR BAJA NOMAD WIDTH:

1) Place your mouse arrow on the thumbnail photo in your Photobucket Album, a gear symbol will appear in the photo thumbnail to edit (or select edit for the photo if already there).

2) Click EDIT and let photo load on the page that appears.

3) Above photo, click RESIZE button (above photo).

4) Width and height values are shown with a padlock between them. The padlock is there to insure you don't distort the photo when you change one of the values (it 'locks' the width to height ration to remain correct).

5) If the photo is over 800 in width, replace the figure with 800, 640, or other smaller size. No need to change the height figure, it changes automatically. Photos that are already smaller can be made bigger, as well. The quality may be reduced when enlarging, but not when shrinking.

6) Click Apply and Save (if you check the small box provided you can replace the original, over-size photo with the Nomad-friendly photo, otherwise you will have both sizes in your Photobucket album).

David, I don't know if you covered this one... (I haven't read the whole thread)

On my off road trip report, how did you get the first frame of the video to show instead of just the link? Did you use one of the "buttons"?

Thanks...very helpful info you are giving!

Next time I am on the computer I will show you... some editing of the link and add tags for video to show.

HOW TO SHOW A YOU TUBE CLIP ON NOMAD

David K - 2-3-2013 at 04:04 PM

1) Get the clip url from the browser... in this case:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pUscONBv_w

2) Remove the watch? and the = from both sides of the v and add a / after the v:

http://www.youtube.com/v/0pUscONBv_w

3) Add this tag to the front of the altered url, without any spaces:

[flash= 640x360]

4) Add this tag to the back of the altered url, without any spaces:

[/flash]

Here is the full link now but with a space added in the tag, so you can see the link

[flash= 640x360]http://www.youtube.com/v/0pUscONBv_w[/flash]

Here it is, as it looks with the space removed:
