Not Baja California, but close...
Does anybody know if the new coastal road from El Golfo to Puerto Penasco is open yet? I've seen reports (for several years) that it'll be open by
the "end of the year" but also notice it's recently received more funding. So, has anybody tried it, or know the current status?

It's paved from Rocky Point more than halfway to El Golfo but not complete. The unpaved part is passable w/o 4x4 but may not be advisable for towing
trailers or low clearance cars. The halt in construction has been due to a dispute between the State of Sonora and the City of San Luis Rio Colorado
over revenues from the SLRC- Baja toll bridge.
