Water near Calexico

timperkins - 3-31-2004 at 08:19 PM

Is there anywhere I can get some water for my camper just north of the border near Calexico?

I know it isn't a long drive from San Diego to Calexico, but I'm thinking that I could save a little gas if I didn't have to carry the water that far.

Food for Less. Off freeway11 (11 is a busy main street that goes directly into the entrance gates)bout a mile before the Mex entrance . You will find everything in Calexico. Why not just get your water in San Felepi? It's great stuff, no worms like that booze though

Drink the water?

Are you kidding... I'd never get that past my wife!

So Food-4-Less has a water spicket right outside their building? I'll need to take on about 20 gallons.

20 gallons? Are you planning to take a bath in the dessert  Yes to your question. Let me tell you, if you get sick off the purity of the processed water in San Felepi...I'll pay for your trip!!!!! to buy this great water, Go to

I was wondering, Tucker, if you could be mine too!! What with Tax time thrust at me the second I arrived home. I sure could use a good financial advisor!! After all that Extra Crunchy peanut butter was terribly expensive to deliver all the way to El Centenario. Worth every bit of it tho!! Thanx for your great hospitality, Tucker, and thnax for just being YOU!! Mucho besos y abrasos to Chico and Hola to Isabel. xoxoxoxo Barbi

YIM- Dude, if you paid a buck a gallon for water in your container in San Felipe, you got ripped!

bajalou222 - 4-5-2004 at 07:57 PM

Several places in San Felipe with purified (reverse osmosis) water for about $1 for 5 gal. some have hoses to fill campers and motorhomes for about 3-4 dollars. I don't bother myself as the regular water seems OK to me

A Buck A Gallon ???

MrBillM - 4-6-2004 at 08:47 PM

I stop at the Water Plant on Mar Jonico off of Calzada Chetumal
once every week and the cost has been 7 pesos for 5 gallons in
your own container for a long time now. That's less than 70 cents
at the current exchange rate. There is a price schedule posted on
the front window. They also have a metered hose for bulk purchases.

A buck a gallon?! Sorry dear Bajians...I was incorrect on that price. It was a buck to fill a partial of a 5 gallon container....so the wify says. Dont trust them Yankeeirishmen word!

Gas Mileage

MrBillM - 4-7-2004 at 09:06 AM

By the way, the gas mileage saved by not carrying 20 gallons of
water (160+ lbs) in a camper vehicle has to be so slight as to
not be noticed. Aerodynamics play a far greater role. I was
made aware of this many years ago when I purchased a New Ford
3/4 ton Van for my business. It was completely bare inside.
During the first few months of use, I changed battery suppliers
and had occasion to return my stock of Auto Batteries to the
original supplier in Los Angeles. With the van at full gross
weight, I got almost exactly the same freeway mileage as when
it was completely empty.
