Mexray - 4-27-2004 at 09:29 PM

This may well be in Baja, but I'm sure it's a picture of a 'draft' drawing by the ancients - of the famous Nazca Lines drawn in Peru's southern coastal area!

Wur' gittin' an Ed-U-Cation, tonight!

David K - 4-28-2004 at 07:57 PM

Are you going to be at the Pyramid Resort Saturday, or are you still in La Paz? I have a big bag of mens shirts for the good mountain people of Baja Sur.

Mexitron - 4-28-2004 at 08:07 PM

I am not sure if you mean the Aguajito area or the place shown in this web page: http://community-2.webtv.net/thebaja/wayno

Lakers

thebajarunner - 4-28-2004 at 10:24 PM

Hey Gato, I already have one Laker fan in my life (Baja Vida)

Ok! Go DODGERS!!??

Mexitron - 4-29-2004 at 12:04 PM

Hey David,

I'm thinking the Aguajito area--there's lots of mines in that stretch and the vegetation looks consistent.........

Nope...

David K - 4-29-2004 at 04:25 PM

but your logic is good!

Be sure to come down to the Pyramid Resort Saturday! Any of you lurkers (people who read, but don't post), introduce yourselves.

I will have on MexRay's custom made Matomi Tour 2004 hat (with the Viva Baja flag Ray designed that's seen on my web site).

Lakers?? Dodgers???

thebajarunner - 4-29-2004 at 04:57 PM

Gato, this could be a long hike (or a short one maybe)
Baja Vida also roots for the above, not a good thing on a 2100 mile ride together in a pickup truck.
Maybe I should take you out to Taft Point and the Fissures in Yosemite.
The guidebook sez "use extreme caution with small children and unattended hikers due to the 3000' vertical drops".... just the place to lose a Laker fan.

Baja Arriba!!

HINT #1

David K - 4-29-2004 at 05:23 PM

HINT #2

David K - 4-29-2004 at 05:50 PM

It was taken within 5 miles (8kms) of a paved road.

David K - 4-29-2004 at 11:15 PM

It was a mining area...

PabloS - 4-30-2004 at 07:06 AM

Without a GPS we looked for a nearby scenic attraction and got lost so we camped here.

I emailed my guess to Bajanomad :)

El Desenga?o

Thanks DK AND Doug, that weekend we were semi lost for a while trying to find tinajas de Yubay, in the end we found El Desenga?o and wonderfull wildflowers, a very interesting mining area that calls for more exploration.

Sorry guys, I didn't see this thread continue with a question to me. I have been pretty busy trying to make some money for the next Baja trip!

The photo was posted by someone who found my geocache (called Viva Baja #2), which I left near Desengano in April 2001 while exploring potential destinations for Viva Baja Tours, with partner Amo Pescar and son Chris. There are other photos as well at www.geocaching.com (Mexico).

The photo was taken from the hill north of Desengano which was an extensive gold mine operation, with the ore flown out in the 1930's. The 'X' pattern crossed runways make a great aerial landmark even though they are not landable any longer.

In the photo, the straight lines may have been railroad or cable tram line routes.
