Howard Gulick manuscripts

I have some manuscripts by Howard Gulick that I acquired from Walt Wheelock (we were neighbors in Glendale). Two of them are incomplete, so I am wondering if someone may have copies containing the parts missing from mine.

#1: "Pictorial Record of Baja California Mission Sites". this is 10 pages of text, tables and maps. One of the tables refers to 38 photos that should be part of this document, but are missing from my copy. This manuscript is undated, but one of the sketch maps is dated 1960.

#2: "Revisions to Write-up of Baja California Mission Trails", December, 1959.
This is a re-write of a previous manuscript in my collection dated 1954. My copy of the 1954 version is complete, but the 1959 version ends abruptly in mid sentence on page 22. Both the content and the order of sections differ from one version to the other, so I do not know how much is missing.

Any help will be appreciated.

I still have many duplicate books, journals, magazines relating to Baja and the SW, so ask for my tradelist/wantlist. I also have indexes to Baja articles in Desert mag, San Diego Historical Soc, Calif Academy of Sciences, etc - free by email.

Wow , what a generous offer Rock! Could you ever post a concise list of what is available? Sounds like you have some artifacts that some here treasure.

Wish I knew more....

Sharks, I have traded with Rockman even before he joined Nomad... He has a wonderful collection of Baja publications (books, maps, magazines)... It is his 'list' that is free, just so everyone is clear.

One of the Howard Gulick collectables I got from Norm (Rockman) was the maps of the El Camino Real and unpublished notes on its location between Loreto and El Rosario, from the early 1950's.

Harry Crosby used Howard's maps and notes when he researched his 1974 book 'The King's Highway in Baja California'

Please enjoy the web page I made to help modern day Camino Real explorers with the Baja Almanac map book using Howard Gulick's notes and maps (which are included in this web site: http://vivabaja.com/ECR

Here's one of Howard's maps from 1954

Howard Guilick's photo collection can be seen here: http://orpheus.ucsd.edu/speccoll/baja/gulick/

Of interest, I met Howard Gulick about 1967 and got his autograph in my Lower California Guidebook.

Yeah, everbody, Rockman is a good guy. Anyone that can help him, please do so.

That said, I have a voodoo doll named Norm that I stick pins in. He has a LOT more Baja books than DK and I have combined.:lol::lol:

Just send your email address along with your principal Baja interests to me (Norm: normanc@olypen.com ) and I will send you some indexes and the tradelist.

Norm (rockman) recently had a great travel/ rockhound article about sites between Chapala and Gonzaga published in Baja Life magazine... It is worth seeing!!!
