We hadnt been to this delightful restaurant in years....so many that all the kids have grown up. It is a family operation. Mom, who used to be over the grill and now attends the cash register, dad, who greets everyone, and the kids, who are now young adults, make up most of the staff. The place is decorated in found objects and is interesting just for that but then we come to the food.
When we first started going there over 10 years ago, they told us it was fast Mexican food. By that they meant tacos, quesadillas and a few specialty items to include frijoles charro, which were always the best in town and now even better. The three of us had tacos with tongue, pork cocinita, chicken espana, ribs, carne asada. Also quesadillas with flor de calabasa and mushrooms(the only disappointment because they were canned). Two frijoles charro. The grand total was $180pesos.
The are located on Pescador in Chamizal across from Dantes and are only open at night.
Try it sometime!

Edit so the phrases that mysteriously disappeared could be added.

It is an awesome "joint". Was the old guy still there playing the organ?

bajajudy - 10-31-2009 at 03:05 PM

Yes, he was. My advice is to not sit too close to the organ.

The organ player takes his tips to Dantes for beer! Been there several times when he has come in, and sometimes falls asleep in front of the big TV.

Gotta agree, Judy. Best tacos in SJC!

One of our favorite restaurants in San Jose!
