So given this weird spelling, how do you suppose Vigge (meant "mountains" in Cochimi [I think] and ought to have an accent on the "e") was pronounced?
I haven't a clue.

It is a guess, but trying to pronounce it the way the natives did, it makes sense to me. And the way it made sense to the missionaries who
transcribed the word.
