Embarrassing moments.

Hola -

I'm not sure where to post this - I'm sure Sr. Nomad will move it where it ought to be. Maybe the round file.

The exchange between Dave and Jesse about rum and mojaditos reminded me of an encounter I had in Imperial Beach (a few miles north of the border) a while back.

I bought something from an older hispanic gentleman at a swap meet and he gave me a wet bill as part of my change.

I looked at it and said: Ay - es mojado.

And the guy responed to me: YO NO SOY MOJADO - SON USTEDES LO 'INCHES MOJADOS.

BTW:

mojado used as an adjective means "wet" - so es mojado = it's wet.

Mojado used as a noun can mean "*******" or "illegal alien ".- Yo no soy majado = I'm no *******.

I tried to explain to him that I was talking about the bill and confusion with the pronouns but the more I talked the madder he got - I finally just walked away. I'm sure that night he was explainng to all his family and friends about the racist gringo he ran into.

I've got a million stories like that - I 've probably personally set interborder relacions back years. It usually happens when I try to be too much of a do-gooder.

Chau guys.
