A GOOD LUNCH..AND GOOD PRICE..AT CUESTA REAL

You will enjoy meeting Pepe, a fine gentleman.

We are old amigos, going back to 1988 when we both 'extras' in a Mexican movie shot in Mulege. I should write a short story about that event sometime. Kind of a 'weird' movie theme...

The director needed a good-looking bandito-type to wear some bandleliers in the old Hacienda cantina..

...and another dopey-looking gringo to drive a car to the Bay with a guy in a gorilla suit in the back seat.

I forget which part he gave me...

EAT WITH PEPE...YOU WILL LIKE IT!

Hey Willy, nice clear photos, but try downsizing the photos a little bit more. I often make the same mistake..gets to be a little too much for most computer screens

...Plus it takes a long time to download via satellite. ;)

I'll be there for the next one!

I recently stayed at the Cuesta Real and can vouch for what a nice guy Pepe is.

Pepe, if you read this my best wishes for your step dad in Ensenada. I hope he makes a speedy recovery and gets back down to Mulege for the holidays.

What ever happened to the last people that managed that. I think his name was Ken. Can't remember hers, they had a young daughter that helped them manage it. Never heard that they had left there.

Bajahowodd - 11-7-2010 at 03:04 PM

You talkin' about these folks?

tripledigitken - 11-7-2010 at 03:16 PM

Ken and Christina split up, Christina and daughter are back up in the states. Ken is running the restaurant, Hotelito, that recently opened in Punta Chivato. Pepe with his wife are now running the Cuesta Real, who are the son-in-law and daughter of the owner.

Thanks for the clarification, Ken.

tripledigitken Alfonso is doing much better and is back home in Mulege.

Brunch was a hit! All you can eat for 100 pesos is hard to beat. (and it was delicious) Thanks to all!

tripledigitken - 11-7-2010 at 08:05 PM

This is the first I've heard that Alfonso was ill. What sort of ailment. He was the first person I met in Mulege in Oct 1974. I have many great memories of those days at the Hacienda.
Thanks,
Kurt

I must say, that looks yummy....

willyAirstream - 11-8-2010 at 07:17 AM

Kurt - Alfonso may have had a stoke. The doctors have been keeping a close eye on him in Ensenada. He has been back home for about a week and is recovering fast. I'll pass along your concern.

motoged - Assuming you don't mean the bacon :) That is Rosy, owner of the "shack" under the bridge, serving great food noon to midnight.

Sorry to hear about the breakup! Ken is one heck of a nice guy. Never met Christina.
