Posada Chabela: Very Private Gay-Friendly B&B Boutique Inn

bryanmckenzie - 4-6-2011 at 04:32 PM

Last summer, I had the good fortune to accidentally discover Posada Chabela high on a hill with dramatic ocean views and across the street from Costa Azul and Zippers world famous surfing beach just west of San Jose del Cabo looking south over the blue Pacific. I met up with owner Rose Ann Solazzo and stayed one night in one of her beautiful casitas; earlier that day I had signed a 2-month lease in Cabo San Lucas.

This gay friendly, beautiful property consists of 4 stand-alone casitas each providing a bit of screening in a tiered, garden setting. Posada Chabela is not a “gay” resort; it simply caters to all people and all lifestyles. So if you crave privacy, intimacy and a small boutique resort owned and operated by a wonderful lady, then this is the ONLY place in the Cape you should stay. Just read a few of the other reviews and visit her website. All lifestyles are welcome --- depending on the presence of other clientele, she says portions of the property allow for being comfortable in a clothing-optional lifestyle. The salt water pool affords complete privacy. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to try out being naked. During the summer of 2010 I did wind up discovering a number of nude beaches in Baja, but that’s another story for another day and another thread. Contact me if you have questions.

Rose Ann is the proverbial “innkeeper” tending to all her guests’ needs. She welcomes both gay and straight visitors. Her style is to mingle with guests, both cooking and eating. She is a wonderful person and gracious host. The two of us I wound up sitting in the outdoor dining area and chatting about many things. And we’ve since become friends. Rose Ann is a blast and we spent one very long day together driving a circuit tour of the cape by car from San Jose to Los Barriles to El Triunfo to La Paz to Todos Santos and back. What fun we had! She is a treasure trove of information and contacts of all types.

I strongly encourage Cabo visitors to consider staying here. Prices are very reasonable and are less than the “major” name-brand resorts. This little hideaway offers a pleasant change from the usual “cookie cutter” mega resorts in Cabo San Lucas. I shall be returning.

Hi Judy,

I just had dinner with Rose Ann a few nights ago in Pasadena. She was up here visiting. I can't wait to go back down there and hand out with her.

Wow! I cannot tell you how many times I've driven past this place without a clue of its existence. It really seems to be a keeper. Lovely.

And the back story.... Brooklyn to Cabo, so interesting. As a kid, living on Long Island, we often went to restaurants at Sheepshead Bay, which is righ next to Coney Island. There was McGinnis and Lundy's.

And Randazzo's, though I hear it isn't as good as it used to be.

And the sound of traffic below? Kinda like I-5?

bryanmckenzie - 6-2-2011 at 03:15 PM

Who woulda thunk it? People really do read these threads word-by-word.

Oops. Mia culpa. I guess it should be "hanging" out --- but then again, that might be saying too much. :o :P

Not at all. Noise is minimal. Daytime a bit. Evenings, it's birds & neighbors. Seriously, this is an awesome property. And if I had the money, I would love to buy/own/operate this sweet little bed & breakfast inn when I retire. I've added pictures to my original post to show how perfect this place is. And the main house is beautiful. With a detached business office. See in the following picture how far above and back from the noise this property is? And insulated by vegetation & terrain?

I'll second that notion.

No question that the highway below is quite busy. But the view is fantastic. And there's so much to enjoy within walking distance.

As for I-5, .... nowhere near that.

Bahahowodd, where on LI? I grew up on the south shore, at Oak Beach

Thanks Bajahowodd. You knows yo pipl's.

For those that question that a bit of tranquility & peace can be found on The Cape / Corridor, I've added several photos to this post, and added some verbiage and also updated my Trip Advisor post about this little gem of a getaway.

Bryan, You didn't by any chance run into Woody when you were there did you? He's always bragging about a "secret place" he goes to.

Great find, Bry! Looks to be a very cool place. I'm gonna put it on the list!
Peace! Vern

Bryan, Woody is gonna be furious with you for giving out information about his "secret" place. Whatever you do, don't give the GPS coordinates!
