Angels4 just came by the office with a toy delivery + donation! Hooray!

ELINVESTIG8R - 1-6-2012 at 09:07 PM

BajaNomad - 1-6-2012 at 11:40 PM

A Nomad whom we enjoyed spending time visiting with at Playa Requeson, gave my son a donation towards the toy drive - and told him to select a toy with... which he did at the Walmart in Ensenada last night... and we dropped off with FDT already... instead of one toy, he chose to get a selection of cars...

One week left, who will be joining us this year?

I incurage all that can, to join us for the toy drive day, it's next sunday the 15th. I assure you it's a very memorable experience.

ELINVESTIG8R - 1-8-2012 at 11:01 AM

fdt - 1-8-2012 at 09:21 PM

We have just one more week left for this event to take place and we are are still very short on toys, please help. Another way you can help out is by purchasing a Green Dot MoneyPak. How this works is that you can purchase at almost every CVS /pharmacy, RiteAid, Wallgreens, 7 Eleven, Kmart or even WalMart a Green Dot Money Pack for any amount from $20 and up.

Please make sure it's a MoneyPak to reload an existing card and not a Green Dot card
Once purchased, just scratch off at the back and you can U2U me the numbers and that will really help us to make this event successful.
Gracias
Fernando

fdt - 1-9-2012 at 09:10 AM

this is the last week to receive toys or donations for the toy drive. It's this coming sunday.

wilderone - 1-9-2012 at 09:53 AM

"... still very short on toys" You were going to tell us which age group you needed. I can bring some by today, but help me out with what to buy. Thanks.
Also, details on attending? Above-mentioned "Mexicoach on Revolution Ave." - what time? how many seats available? Is that at the bus station? Alternative transportation?

BajaGeoff - 1-9-2012 at 11:07 AM

Another box arrived this morning! Woohoo! Was that yours Ford?

woody with a view - 1-9-2012 at 07:03 PM

c'mon folks! time is dwindling....

Dia de Reyes Nomads and Fernando. Best of luck Sunday. I wish I could join you but I am too far and my boys will kill me if I take them on another 4.5 hour drive non-stop from Bakersfield. My goal next year is to double the donation I made this year. A special thank you to Baja Bound for being so nice to my kids and I. Fernando you have a golden heart!

fdt - 1-13-2012 at 12:55 PM

Finaly, it's confirmed! We will be having the Dia de reyes Toy Drive giveaway at The El Trompo Interactive Museum. The kids are going to love this!!! http://www.eltrompo.org/eng/

wilderone - 1-13-2012 at 08:03 PM

Barring unforeseen circumstances, I'm coming too and can help out in any way. I plan to be at the Revolucion station at 9 am.
Fernando - what a wonderful party location - you're awesome!

Ken Cooke - 1-13-2012 at 08:36 PM

Leidys and I plan on attending with my video camera!

Only $6/per person ROUND TRIP is WAY CHEAPER than the new Tijuana Taxi prices (yikes!). I'm going Mexicoach from now on.

No need to worry about rain if you ride in the front rows of the bus which are covered. The entire bus is not convertible - just the rear 3/4ths.

Leo didn't call me back this time, but I've confirmed otherwise that there are 7am and 8am buses out of the Border Station parking lot (San Ysidro-side) going to the Revolucion station.

Reminder, $6 round-trip per person. Parking at the Border Station lot is $7/day currently fwiw.

Currently, my plan is to stay at the Motel 6 in Chula Vista (Calle Primera Ave) - Eat Breakfast at the Dennys on Calle Primera. Then, book it to the Iris Ave. station to catch the 8:02 AM trolley. If anyone is planning to eat breakfast at the Dennys at Calle Primera in San Ysidro, I'll be there with Leidys.

If any Nomads happen upon us at the Denny's - this is our picture.

fdt - 1-14-2012 at 02:45 PM

I just confirmed with Leo and the price for Mexicoach roundtrip tomorrow will be only $5 (five) dollars and the first bus is at 8am. The 7 am is the bus that leaves Tijuana going to San Ysidro to be the 8am bus to Tijuana. Parking is $7.

I called the SY/Border Station office again just now, and they are now telling me the above... 8am first bus; $5 round trip.

she's getting kind of frustrated

She decides to have fun instead

fdt - 1-15-2012 at 09:19 AM

Getting the car loaded again with all the gifts (275 of them) wrapped up

After all those gifts, only 2 small bikes fit in the car so a pick up truck came to load the other 13 bikes

goldhuntress - 1-15-2012 at 09:20 AM

Ken Cooke - 1-15-2012 at 09:01 PM

Ladies and I had a great time in Tijuana - we were AMAZED by the beautiful neighborhood (via MEXICOACH) that we toured near the new CALIENTE CASINO. Beverly Hills/Brentwood in Tijuana?? WHERE CAN I SIGN UP!?!:bounce:

The location that Fernando picked was FIRST CLASS! I loved it, and I'm sure the kids loved it as well. Best of all, the weather held up all day - cloudy skies, but NO MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION! YEA! :bounce:

fdt - 1-15-2012 at 09:14 PM

After leaving the Mexicoach Tourist Terminal on Avenida Revolucion we went to pick up a group of kids

fdt - 1-15-2012 at 09:19 PM

And we continue the tour...

fdt - 1-15-2012 at 09:31 PM

After the tour we arrive at El Trompo

fdt - 1-15-2012 at 09:34 PM

Besides our Mexicoach bus, 4 more buses arrive full of children

There were hundreds of children...

fdt - 1-15-2012 at 09:41 PM

Ken's version of things...

Ken Cooke - 1-15-2012 at 09:51 PM

Here are a few of my photos taken throughout the day.

Boarding the MEXICOACH Bus at 9:30 AM on Calle Revoluccion.

Lining up children to enter the Interactive Museum where we the Toy Drive was held (3rd Floor).

Daniella and Leidys

Fernando really delegated tasks as there were so many children and toys this year!

Teamwork really made this event an overwhelming success - Fernando and Doug.

fdt - 1-16-2012 at 09:58 AM

Toys, bikes, tamales and face painting

We had a total of 15 bikes to give away

Face painting "Pinta Caritas were there for all the kids

Ken Cooke - 1-23-2012 at 12:01 AM

I began working on the video tonight. Leidys sat with me for 15 minutes as I copied clips and scanned for more clips for the video. This is very time-consuming work. I plan to have it completed within the next several days. I can't wait to share it with everyone here!

I have uploaded 50% of the video.

I'm still at it, and I'm hoping to have this video on-line within the next 24 hrs.
