Computer Performance Issues when logged on to nomads a long time

I've been having performance issues for quite some time now and the problem is almost always due to running out of memory. I have 2 gigs.

It turns out that when you hit a link on nomads it opens a new window but this new window is handled by the same process as the bajanomad window. Another words the memory usage increases of that process.

But here is the thing. When you close the browser window that you linked to, the memory is not released. To free up that memory you need to close the bajanomad window as well.

However, if you copy and paste the link from bajanomads to a new window it will create a new process which will die when you close the window. Memory is then released.

This memory retention is usually not a problem. But if the link is to a youtube page the process can get very large and start to cause paging which really slows things down.

This was observed on MS Internet Explorer running on the XP operating system.

So if you experience similar problems then just close your nomad window (in addition to it's 'child' windows) and reopen it.

-----------------------------------------

P.S. I doubt that this is a bajanomad issue. I think any IE window with a hyperlink will behave the same way and deplete memory.

I hate to say it, but switching to Apple recently after 15 years of Windows based products has really been fun and easy. I'd never go back......ever!

I hate the whole Mac vs. PC debate (as it makes everyone look stupid), but I couldn't hold back from saying this. I wasted so many years on Windows............

ditto firefox or chrome. Also, memory sticks are cheap and easy to install.

Google Chrome is fantastic and faster than Internet Explorer (just switched a week ago), and it even does spell check on Nomad posts... I am saved! LOL
