Do these grow in Baja?

I'm wondering if these blooming plants grow in Baja?

These are currently blooming in my back yard here in San Diego.

Some type of blooming air plant. I put them in my Mexican fan palm tree and they love it there.

Bird of Paradise... right next to my Mexican fan palm tree.

Obviously, some type of bromeliad. Very cool!

It's a Tilanzia. These plants are a type of bromeliad, and are an aerophyte meaning they don't need soil. You would have to take splash it with water at least once a week (maybe more depending where you live in Baja). Water should be directed towards the center of the plant, or urn, where it can temporarily store it before uptake.

Good luck!

I don't know if that particular species of Tillandsia will thrive in the Cabo summer inferno---the native Tillandsia recurvata might do better but even they like the west coast better.

Don't mean to highjack the thread, but look into creating microclimates around your casa for species with special needs. pm me if you like.
