These can be hidden in items to make search/recovery possible... If you have cell phone coverage.

And an iPhone. Not Android compatible, at least not yet.

True, only for IOS currently (IPads, IPods and IPhones), but...

One benefit is "crowd sourcing" so if a stolen item is near another person with this device, and they are part of the "tile community" it could relay that Information back to the owner.

Perhaps a Nomad networking/sharing effort for those with iPhones, pads, pods etc.? Help keep an eye out for nomad property?

From the site:

What is the range of Tile?
The range from your phone is 50 - 150ft depending on the environment. However, if any other Tile user's phone is within 50 - 150ft of your Tile, you will receive an update with the location of your Tile. When this happens, you will see a pin on the map view for your Tile. This essentially makes the range limitless once there are enough Tile users in your area.

If my Tile app updates the location of someone else's Tile, will my location be shared with anyone?
No. When the Tile cloud servers send the Tile location update to your fellow Tile community member, none of your Tile account information will be shared with them. All that person will receive is a GPS location. He or she will not know who provided the location update.
