Sabor Restaurant Loreto. A Should Do.

bajacalifornian - 10-19-2013 at 07:31 PM

Basically a neighbor of ours as the crow flies . . . what a fine experience here tonight.

In the confines of this delightful compound born among the cactus, we were served poolside. A pool I fully intend to lounge around with good food , drink and hosts . . . as years pass.

Food from a different region, south coastal Jalisco, with flavor that keeps you eating well after you are content. The sauce of my cheese enchilada was spicy hot, sweet . . . & the whole damn tasty.

Very easy to find.

Coffee is outstanding.

Mari, Chris & their daughter are here to stay. Congratulations! Thank you for what you do & bringing it to Loreto.

Do it!

Yep! After reading this post we went today for lunch and were very pleased with everything. The damn crow can walk from here in the Colonia so save his wings. I had a chicken Cesar salad, Bonnie one of the chicken burgers both really nice. The folks are great too as is the location. Well worth watching.

so where in loreto is it?....we're in!!....downtown??

Mariz - 10-23-2013 at 07:50 PM

We are located just at the south end of the big bridge (San Thelmo River) leaving town towards Loreto bay. We are on the east side (S of C side) and in about 200 meters. There are power lines leading directly to us. You can find some google earth pic's and directions at the website in my signature.

Thanks for the nice review Ed. It was great meeting and serving you!;)

The wife and I, and a couple of friends, had dinner last night at this brand new Loreto Restaurant.

We chose to sit on the upstairs terrace, instead of poolside, a right decision, since a nice breeze blew from the sea.

This place is going to be a real asset to the Loreto dining experience. A very attractive menu with great presentation, half the battle in that business.
With four different dishes ordered, all of us were very impressed.
Chimichangas, quesedillas, both with chicken and pulled pork and a spaghetti and meatball dish, which my friend raved about.

We tried the ceviche as appetizer and our friend, who is a ceviche lover, stated it was the best he ever tasted.

As a bonus Mari had us taste her delicious flan.

Also, a beautiful venue btw, overlooking our now jungle like scenery, with a view of the sea and Carmen.
Nice place to relax sipping a beverage.
Chris told me, wine will be on the menu shortly.

We highly recommend this place and wish Chris, Mari and Ashley
lots of success and good fortune in their endeavor.

Everything looks great. But I have a question. The restaurant website says it closes at 7pm. I understand that given the location, there's not any foot traffic. But just wondering if I show up at 6:45, and wish to have a leisurely dinner, will I be stared at by the staff?

Awww, Howard....why would you do such a thing? :?:

Mariz - 10-26-2013 at 05:26 PM

We try to close the kitchen around 7 but...

We love to hang out and have beers in the palapa until whenever!

WOW! Look at the view from the 2nd level palapa at Sabor!

Mariz, count me in. Not sure if on the way south or the way north. But I shall plan a meal and margarita beverage here. But I look forward to meeting you and your family and enjoying a wonderful meal.

And also, the website is very nicely done. Menu webpage looks great (clean, simple). Please let your website designer know that.

Sabor in Loreto

capn.sharky - 11-11-2013 at 01:12 PM

Ate there three times. Just can't get enough of Mari's cooking. What a treat and the service is excellent. Give it a try and you'll be hard pressed to eat anywhere else.

bajacalifornian - 11-11-2013 at 01:22 PM

May come to two seatings :light:

They are worth hunting down

akmaxx - 11-11-2013 at 03:57 PM

A few hundred feet past the bridge going south and a few hundred feet down a dirt road on the left (signage could be a little bigger for the uninitiated).

Everything on the very well-laid out menu looks great and it is well priced for what you get. The roasted pepper chicken sandwich was excellent and the pulled pork was more like chopped deviled ham than a southern pulled pork but tasty nonetheless. The coleslaw was excellent but the beans were over-spiced (too much salt, peppers, vinegar, maybe ketchup and I like spicy).

I will plan on stopping here more often on my road trips.

This place is a treat without having to go into Loreto. Great place to kill time waiting for the planes as you can see the runway from the deck. If they have wifi I would wait there and enjoy a frosty beverage or a coffee and fine dessert until I see the plane landing.

Buenas suerte,

Mariz - 11-11-2013 at 06:07 PM

We do have WIFI and are in the process of increasing the speed and range.

It's funny, the other day an older gentlemen told his wife that the BBQ beans were the best he'd ever had, she said he used to think hers were the best and made a frown. Everybody likes things a little different...

The road construction has made improving the signage and the entry challenging but they do always maintain access for us and our customers. We really appreciate the support during the construction and they seem to be moving right along. Hopefully, they will finish in our area and we can improve the access and signage.

Thank you for the nice comments capn.sharky and akmaxx!
