New to forum. Sorry if this question has been asked but ...... What are the rules for bringing US furniture, appliances, kitchens, etc. across. I hear all kinds of rules like less then $500 no duty? More people in car better? Any help appriciated. Thanks

Cross at Tecate...no hassles, even if you get a red light.

SY & Otay, has a guy sitting on a high chair signaling the border checkers to look, even if you get a green light.

I crossed at Tecate with a hot water heater and tile for my 2 showers. Went to the declare booth and the gentleman came out and asked for reciepts. I gave them to him. He said no charge for the water heater but 16% for the tile. I asked why. He said the tiles are considered building material and the hot water heater not. I asked about kitchen cabinets. He said they are not considered building material so no duty on them. I paid across the street at a bank got a reciept he stamped his official stamp and off I went. I am crossing tomorrow with cabinets. I hope the same official is working tomorrow. I will let you know.

Cross at Tecate, pull into the declare lane, have your receipts

We cross thru the Declare lane in Mexicali and have receipts. If you want to buy lumber or any other supplies after you cross, go to Madereria Union on Blvd. Hector Teran Teran #12, in Mexicali. Ask for Eric, he speaks perfect English. He studied in Canada.
