BAHIA ASUNCION Gringoized Turnkey House For Rent

DavidE - 6-28-2014 at 11:59 AM

Year-round rentals are so rarely available here, I thought I'd post this in the general forum.

What's a "Gringoized Turnkey House?"

Show up at the front door with a bag of groceries and everything is ready to rock & roll. 6-burner stove, large refrigerator-freezer, microwave oven, Oster stainless-steel toaster oven, coffeemaker, dishes, cutlery, plastic storage containers, 2 large kitchen tables, typical Mexican bed, with bedding, screened windows. Place was just finished when I moved in. Has nearly full 100 pound cylinder of gas, excellent lighting, landlord lives next door for security, plenty of parking even with a boat. House has large Tinaca when water is cut off. New electrical receptacles and switches, hot water dispenser, 5 2-1/2 gallon miniature garrafones (drinking water). New garden hose, new garden tools, even a freshly planted garden with tomatoes, cantaloupe, and new potatoes.

Up on the hill away from noise. Finding a replacement renter was one of the promises I made with the landlady. I intend to keep it.

U2U or email.

Glad to see you posting again DavidE. But how could you leave beautiful Bahia Asuncion with its endless supply of fresh fish?

DianaT - 6-28-2014 at 12:39 PM

David,

How much and on which street is it located and how far above the main street?

Do you have any pictures?

David, please we are hoping for some more detailed information! I sure hope your return to the mainland will be a positive move for you.

Que paso? amigo David. Many of us enjoy or not your info and banter here on BN. Some have asked where you have disappeared to?! Now your rental post in BA draws questions but no answers? Are you Leaving--buen viaje or are you ... I realize it's your own business but your amigos here are just interested. Espero lo mejor... Tomas

Geez. This was originally posted last June.

I wonder if it was the little house David lived in that was near campo sirena? If so,it was very cute from the outside with his garden in front.

As far as I can tell, David has not posted forever.

shari - 2-3-2015 at 08:52 AM

no Blanca that isnt the house he is in anymore. He is in another house in town somewhere...and I'm not sure what his plans are either.

The post by Dah-veed above was his last post on Nomad (so far)... and here is his farewell post the day before, he wrote it in the third person:

David went home for awhile to help the kids. Cris-Craft from La Paz to Manzanillo, then bus down the coast of Michoacan. Got smothered in hugs and kisses. Pretty dangerous there now. Mangoes yielded 6.2 tonaladas. Flew back on Volaris for eqvt of 88 dollars.

David, sadly is saying adios to Baja California. Means forever. Ironic that I depart almost to the week of the 50th anniversary of my 1st visit. Being now Mexicano it did not surprise me to feel far more comfortable south of the border than north.

Future plans include, summer residence on a high alpine lake surrounded by volcanoes, a winter or so maybe on Utila or Roatan, and a stretch in Nicaragua, way up north in the mountains. C.A. is small - tiny actually. It's only 800 miles from the lake to my orchard and casita. It is extremely doubtful that after heading south I will ever see the USA again.

Pilar, Dalia and Hermalinda beat me up for "staying away so long". Dalia's tears were the hardest to bear. Pancho, the catorro got eaten by a cat (I caught him while picnicking at Rio Chuta - he was a small parrot). 3 seconds flat he was eating mango, tommy's sunflower seeds and pacing my shoulders. Fastest domestication of a wild bird I ever heard of.

I am taking a lot of memories with me. Found out memories are the only valid currency of old age. Money, land, prestige are worthless.

There is a panteon on a hillside next to the volcanic lake. Looks suitable to me.

Adios Amigos Que le Vaya Y Vive Bien!

Wow. I missed that farewell.

Shari's post sure makes it sound like he did not leave, he just does not post here any more. His choice, let it go.

shari - 2-3-2015 at 01:05 PM

as far as I know he is still in Asuncion and hangs out in the back of Mercado del Sur on occasion.
