Looks like a double whammy is headed toward East Cape with the other low pressure headed for Cabo also.

pacsur - 9-14-2014 at 06:15 PM

San Jose update 7:00
Wind steadily picking up, seems to be solid 50-60+, not much rain.
Powers been out quickly a couple of times, no sat reception, no landline, but ac is working!

And without Shari in BA, who is going to post photos of BA's storm damage?

Perhaps Vgabndo, or Bajaboy.

Udo - 9-14-2014 at 06:24 PM

I pray that my good buddy, George Bergin (OSPREY) will be OK through the storms.
And hopefully they'll receive enough rain to get the underground wells to fill up again.

Last year a old friend of mine in Los Barriles told me that seeing as how they (the town ) finally put roads across the arroyos we would have a big chabasco this year. Unfortunately it looks like senor Rusto was right.
I certainly hope and pray that my friends are safe and that my little casita is not to badly damaged

7:45pm San Jose
Major bump in intensity in last 45 min, getting more rain, wind, house, and windows making some of those rare noises, net on and off.

Wishing safe passage through this storm to all my amigos in Baja. Batten down all the hatches and stay aware and safe.

9:13pm San Jose
Like reported, power out for 20 min now, just keeps blowing harder, more rain, 100-110+ doesn't sound far fetched right now, but pretty much shut in and everything's dark.

Katiejay99 - 9-14-2014 at 08:26 PM

Elect. is going on and off here. Wind is definitely picking up!!

BillP - 9-14-2014 at 08:26 PM

Looks like a full on direct hit on Los Cabos

desertcpl - 9-14-2014 at 08:37 PM

yup,, right on the nose... this is not nice

Mulegena - 9-14-2014 at 08:38 PM

Heard from a former Mulege resident now living on the mainland just south of Zihuatanejo. The storm has passed there. No injuries reported. The public beach in Barra de Potosi has been destroyed which most likely excavated the thousands of turtle eggs that were just laid there two weeks ago. So sad....dammm.

Stay safe. Stay warm. Be well tonight, southern friends.

"Our ridiculous late-night run through the halls of the hotel to get to a safe location. This is scarier than Hurricane Sandy. Our room on the second highest floor has flooded. It sounds like a freight train outside and the building is shaking. The windows on several floors are blown out. We had to evacuate through the open-air hallway, through flooding, torrential rain and whipping winds, dodging debris. Now, we're here in the hotel's shelter, sleeping on the carpet with hundreds of others, sweating bullets. Biggest weirdest slumber party everrr! Happy anniversary @arwilli13 ! bill erhardt - 9-15-2014 at 06:06 AM

Yesterday at this time (7:00 a.m.) I was putting out lines at Thetis Bank outside Mag Bay thinking that the storm would pass offshore to the west a couple of hundred miles some time today. Didn't learn until I got back to Loreto yesterday evening that Odile had veered to the right and Lopez Mateos would be ground zero.
There is no cell service in Lopez now, or in San Jose.
Steady rain and 20 - 30 knot wind in Loreto.

Meany - 9-15-2014 at 06:07 AM

Russ if you get this. we are staying in GN and will stay in touch. Hang in there.
