... spreading like a fungus

Katiejay99 - 10-23-2014 at 10:55 AM

Yes, well, drug people taking out drug people is what I hear. The general public need not worry and it is no way involving tourists. I live here full time and I am not afraid at all.

It seems like a lot for our new Police Chief to take on.

So they say baja is as safe or safer than any comperable U.S. city, NOT BCS has had 18 executions, beheadings in the past 73 days.

problem with drug people is they do not care who gets in their way. They also don't mind people stealing from others to feed their habit. Some are now going to say "don't worry it happens everywhere", which I guess makes it OK.

DaliDali - 10-23-2014 at 11:12 AM

When guns are outlawed.....only the outlaws will have guns.

bajaguy - 10-23-2014 at 11:19 AM

Chicago can top that in one weekend

Fight crime - shoot back

might be true,, but don't you think there might be a tad difference in population

bajaguy - 10-23-2014 at 11:26 AM

Doesn't really matter - If you are dead, you are dead.

I would rather take my chances in Baja than Chicago

the mayor and the chamber of commerce arranged for the the cartels to stage real-life gun fights for tourists. show is free at the plaza, daily at noon (and an extra show at 3 pm on sundays and holidays).

the promoter has been experiencing high turnover in gunmen, so for $50 ticket, you can participate too, and cartel will provide the guns and ammo (but be aware that the waiver you sign before participating releases promoter from liability for your medical and funeral expenses). some of the tourists say it's more fun than the zip line ride, and cheaper too.

Hook - 10-23-2014 at 11:35 AM

Yeah, but even Chicago can't top Iguala, Mexico, in terms of killing students. Looks like six killed and an additional 43 still missing.

Many more details have come out in the last 24 hours. Warrants issued for the mayor and his wife, who are apparently on the lam.

Amazing that elements of the police force would actually open fire on the buses before the students even got off. Then they took one bus and apparently gave it over to some drug gang for disposal of the rest. Another case of the lines blurring between the local police and the drug gangs. FIFTY-THREE persons arrested so far.

With Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin, James Brolin, Norman Bartold. Westworld -- For $1,000 a day, vacationers can indulge whims at the cartel theme park ...

Just keep your eyes open and don't be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

what if the gunmen don't advertise where and what time the gun fight starts? and you happen to find yourself in the middle of a unscheduled gun fight? (i hate it when the gunmen don't stick to the schedule published on their facebook page) what do you do then, politely ask them to stop for a couple minutes so you can pay your bill and leave the restaurant? :?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?:

Tioloco - 10-23-2014 at 06:09 PM

Aw, just when it looked like property values were on their way back up....

Pompano - 10-23-2014 at 06:19 PM

Always has been a wild west kind of place. The first murder by automatic rifle fire in Baja I can remember was at the Serinadad highway entrance ..back in 1975, I believe. I doubt it was the first in history.

edit to add...nothing that would ever stop me from traveling to Baja Sur.

chicago is a great place, lake michigan, great resaurants, and theatre. never saw any killings or shootings in over 50 years living here. It's the area you are in that matters.

They thought they had found some of them a few weeks ago-a mass grave with 27 in it. Testing results showed none of them were the missing students....so who was in that hole?

The problem with the cartel "its just business" thing is that once they've settled the issue of who does business where they usually start "taxing" the local businesses too-its never just a nice, quiet drug trade.
