I wish you lots of luck and hope it sells soon so you can move on to new adventures. Moving on and new adventures keeps the mind from growing moldy. :-) The right buyer will come along.

Our land is privately titled and can be bought as a Mexican corporation. It also has status as a private nature preserve through CONANP (the only property of this kind in BCN)

I hope that this designation has been at least somewhat successful in helping to preserve that area.

We also still hope to get up there before it sells!

Oh bummer... I am sorry it just didn't materialize for your desire or retirement to stay there and enjoy the dark skies and all!

Just a thought, since there is no shortage of off roaders and four wheelers willing to travel to and through your land, maybe cater to them as well? Instead of renting telescopes only, rent some quads for people to enjoy the foothills? Dirt roads by day and stars and planets at night... Just adjust to the business market that already exists in Baja, until the one you want does materialize.

I have enjoyed your build reports and photos of the planets. I hope you don't leave Baja.

thanks Diana and David! Nope Baja California is going to stay on our list of places to further explore!

David off roading is one of the actividades prohibido (along with logging, hunting, cattle farming, mining, etc) on the CONANP certification. We have zero interest in the off roading community, as you know!:D

If we find a buyer here, we will be mobile with our pets/scopes in an A class RV, like to explore more in Baja sur and travel to the SW US parks and share the skies a la John Dobson

Diana, we are really happy to be able to contribute to the conservation effort in Baja California together with Terrapeninsular.

The designation stands for 99 years (assuming humanity lasts that long!!) and assuming that PROFEPA has the ability to enforce environmental law.

The people at Terrapeninsular are good people, as you well know!

Mike, would you mind telling us Americans or Canadians what paperwork or method is needed to buy that property since we are not Mexican citizens? Is it a corporation that holds the land and 'anyone' can buy the corporation and is a residence and business visa also part of the conditions?
Thank you!

I ask because a lot of us hear that real ownership is a risk in Mexico, and knowing the safeguards just might sweeten the deal?

Hi Mike, sorry the venture is not happening but I have to say, I praise you for your spirit of conservation of the environment! Baja can really use a lot of people like you.....Best of luck in you future endeavors.

Best of luck with your sale.

I like to see myself as an off-roader who has great respect for conservationism (not a contradiction as there are ways to respect both realms).

Thank you for caring for that corner of our planet....

And when friends were discussing riding that area, I spoke strongly against any thoughts they had regarding "shortcuts' and bypassing gates....

So tell us - what kinds of things have you observed in the sky while you've been there?
