Hotel La Mision - Loreto

This hotel is very nice and clean. The staff is as good as it gets!
They don't have 'secure' parking but they do have a lot in back they use and there are some very nice rigs back there, so it must be secure!
I have parked my truck out in front of the hotel for many nights with kayak/SUP on the roof racks and tons of camping gear inside and no problems!
Granted this isn't a good idea but I am happy they have good enough parking

The restaurant serves up some great food, bartenders mix up great drinks. They are probably the higher price in town but its very good food and still I consider it reasonable.

We will continue staying here when we visit Loreto.

Great place, on the high end price-wise, but worth it. They also have a 2 for 1 Happy Hour every night from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with a great view of the malecon.

Have stayed there 2 times, VERY NICE, and worth the money!
They do lock up the back at night.

Think you've written ''this isn't a good idea'' about having all your stuff on and in your truck parked on the street. Is that right?

If you have an alarm on your truck, no problem as long as it's armed. I doubt someone will steal your yak if you're parked in front of the hotel -- esp. if it's lit up.

Don't know how well I'd sleep, though, if it were my stuff.

Don't be lulled into a false sense of security because you've tempted fate and won.

Good luck in your travels!

Maybe you can share something about the rooms? What rooms or wing is best? Anything you didn't like about the rooms? (Rubber mattresses, no fan, etc.).

And, how much do you pay and any discounts somewhere? Never been in but will drop by next time. It looks like a classy place.

(I'd be parking out front as parking in the rear looks spotty.)

Here is what ive learned about this hotel over the years:
The best rooms are the ocean view upper levels. Incredible views of sunrise and sunset and they seem to be cleaner and more updated. However, we now have a dog and so we must stay in the rooms around the pool designated for pets. -which is fine with us because they are still very nice and we appreciate that most people dont want to stay in a room previously occupied by a dog. I always shop around online for the best rate and although its usually the hotels website, i have gotten lower rates on traveladvisor and hotels.com. Never pay the full rate. Also, I usually pay the final bill with my credit card and ask them to submit it in pesos NOT dollars as the exchange rate at my bank is much better than the hotels. I always check my bill carefully and i have had to dispute charges a couple of times. Save all your receipts! We do love the restaurant, but sometimes the dinners fall short. Breakfast is always delicious!

Great info. Thanks!

They do give a discount to local Loreto Residents, so if you know someone in Loreto, have them reserve the room and ask for the "local discount". It's not a lot, I think 10% or so.

Have stayed there a bunch of times and they do a great job - nice folks. The parking in the back seems to be secure for race cars and prerunners. And I will be there in one week!

LaTijereta - 4-10-2015 at 08:15 PM

The local rate is called the "BajaSur rate", and includes breakfast and taxes...

The rooms facing the ocean and overlooking the pool and bar below is where we like to stay. On a long drive down the beds are the best close to Westin beds in the States. The rooms are big and very clean as well as the bathrooms. We have stayed here about 3 times with always good results.
I had to park my jeep out front and tipped the staff out front to keep and eye on it with good results nothing missing in the morning.
Had good luck with the food for dinner and breakfast with great staff waiting on us. Now, it will cost you about $120 a night but that is worth it when your dead tired wanting a very restful night in a very comfortable bed.

My experience is that they are quite pricey. Given the room location, it could be twice the price of decent hotels off the malecon.
