Temporary Cell Phone Coverage

I dislike the prices we all pay for coverage, but I'm very happy with AT&T coverage. I cruise many places and never once have I thought, "Man, my AT&T coverage sucks". Works most everywhere.

I hear people complain about Sprint sometimes.

In populated areas all the major carriers are adequate. In rural areas, you never know until you get there. If you are obsessed with having coverage, choose att or Verizon and you'll probably be fine.

Back in the dark ages we traveled for days at a time (sometimes even weeks!) without calling and texting or facebooking, can you believe that? Oh, the horrors!

We are in central Colorado, Westcliffe area, use Cricket who uses AT&T and do quite well with it...
We also use it in BAJA, Mulege area

we are happy with it at this moment...

Getting a telcel sim card for your smart phone is the way to go. They are only $10 US. It's going to be the best reception you can get when you can get it😀.

My buddy and I recently went to Rosarito for the the day. He was bragging about his T-Mobile phone and how he didn't have to change Sims. His reception was not nearly as good as my telcel sim iphone. His data speed was even more laughable to the point of being unusable.

We picked up a telcel sim for him on the way back 😀 They are really easy to get now. You don't even need a passport. I recently bought
5 of them for family and friends.

When I went to San Diego a few weeks ago I was surprised when my Telcel phone automatically changed to AT&T...I was worried what the charges might be...but even after my phone switched to a Canadian carrier in Canada too...my bill was only another $18 more..whew...worked like a charm!

i'd stick with T-Mobile ONLY because you have the phone...
new phones are expensive

I use the $2 a day plan
you ONLY pay when the phone is on

i'd just use Skype with wifi when you need a phone in CO if there is no cell coverage

you really don't NEED a cell phone all the time
its a leash

Install free Skype on your cell phone and buy the min credit for $10. Then let Skype add $/time as needed. Every public place has Wifi and that is all you need. Wont work between towns or in the canyons of CO, but neither will a cell phone. At your destination or overnight stopovers you will be good with Skype.
