For those with PBS access, tonight (Sept. 2) is the final live broadcast from Monterey Bay at 5 pm Pacific time.
Monterey has had an unusually large showing of humpbacks, orcas and other marine mammals this year, and last. These live broadcasts have been
educational (interviews with researchers from Monterey Aquarium) and inspiring for anyone who likes seeing whales feeding, moms & calves
migrating, etc. with images of great whites, orcas and other animals added.
They aren't sure why so many of these animals are congregating in this area- perhaps the warm water means lack of food elsewhere? But it makes for an
amazing live broadcast.
