El Camino Del Diablo

Any Nomad driven this road in southern Arizona? Goes from just east of Yuma down near the Organ Pipe NM. Thinking of going next week for the perfect weather and adventure but possible health issues (YTCN) may keep me grounded. In its time, it was a well traveled trail, but you really had to want it as it took a serious toll. Many graves along the route and horror stories (men with their fingers rubbed raw trying to reach water). I came across a post from Neil Johns about him leading a caravan 5 or so years ago.
Just stirring the pot here, wheels spinning----

We drove it from ajo to yuma a couple years ago. Camped out near the middle. Strange to see trucks driving by on mex.hwy 2 when you think you are out in the middle of nowhere.

Border patrol has a permanent station 20 or 30 miles in. Lots of activity all night long.
