In actuality, the restoration of the New River has been hailed as an environmental success story. The creation of wetlands to filter the water and allow for sunlight to purify it has improved the water quality to an amazing extent. People complain about the litter in the Tijuana River Valley and ignore the much greater amount of pollution discharged in the ocean from NOB; the entire flow of the Colorado River, diverted, chlorinated and used once to flush toilets in Los Angeles, then head south of the border to fish because the water in the Southern California Bight can barely support life.
