directions to jardines

ehall - 4-29-2016 at 06:18 PM

Meeting a couple guys for a bike ride and supposed to meet at jardines in San quintin. Can someone give me directions to jardines please? Thanks.

willardguy - 4-29-2016 at 06:30 PM

turn right at the CFE sub station....follow the signs.

David K - 4-29-2016 at 07:12 PM

This is about a km or two south of where Hwy. 1 becomes very narrow (km.0), south end of the towns of San Quintin and Lazaro Card##as.

wilderone - 4-30-2016 at 07:51 AM

Look for a large sign on Mex. 1 to the Old Mill. Turn west onto this dirt street, passing fields of dirt clods. You'll first come to a dirt street running no/so - turn left. Los Olivos campground (you might see a sign for this), and Jardines are on that street (1/2 block from each other).

Interesting that a place you can just about see from the highway has so many ways to get to it!?? It is 1 or 2 Kms. south of Km. 0 (which is where the newest/ 1973 section of Highway One begins... skinnier than the highway north of Km. 0.)

Here is their link: http://www.hotel-jardinesbaja.com/

It is well signed (or was) at the highway

ehall - 4-30-2016 at 10:31 AM

Thanks everyone. Might be dark when we get there and that's why I asked.

bajatrailrider - 4-30-2016 at 10:49 AM

Hi Ed turn in to road at old mill sign, newly paved. Then Lt turn at first intersection.( Dirt road ) Make reservations as they are sold out most nights. If you dont show by 6pm,they may cancel you. Try to call them on your ride, before 6pm.

They used to have a lighted sign on the highway but last time it was in disrepair. Good luck. You'll find it. Just drive in a half mile off the road and look for palm trees and a garden.

David K - 4-30-2016 at 10:50 AM

Ed, do you want the GPS for it? You will turn west off Hwy. 1 about a half mile + north of it and it is about a half mile + west of the highway on a parallel dirt road.

BajaBlanca - 4-30-2016 at 02:19 PM

I think it will indeed be hard to find it in the dark. GPS is not a bad idea.

Are you saying that the road into Old Mill is now paved? That would be a nice improvement.

windgrrl - 4-30-2016 at 03:26 PM

GPS Cordinates:
N 30 degrees 29.188'W

115 degrees 56.306'

Distance to Jardines from MEX 1 at Jardines turn-off sign 1 is 1.8 km

willardguy - 4-30-2016 at 07:36 PM

GPS coordinates to find Jardines......seriously?

Yes the road to the Old Mill is newly paved.

David K - 5-1-2016 at 09:11 AM

Tim, is that at the Km. 1 marker or near it?

PaulW - 5-1-2016 at 10:29 AM

Yes the road to the Old Mill is newly paved. [/rquote]

Good news. We did the road in December and had to deal with the construction. It was a big mess. On the way back from the Mill we found the turn to Jardines and an easier way to the hwy.

liknbaja127 - 5-1-2016 at 06:26 PM

David, road to old mill is #1. To Jardines, #2. Black top all the way to old Mill! Take old Mill rd. #1 go app. 1/2 mile, turn left, will be on the right, just past dirt intersection, cant miss it. Just left there at 6 am.
this morning. Have a great time!

bajabuddha - 5-1-2016 at 09:40 PM

De Jardines es right above de canned Atün and in between de Kippers an' de Osteones Ahumados..... :bounce::bounce:

BAJA.DESERT.RAT - 5-2-2016 at 10:57 AM

yes, make a reservation and they do take chargecards so you will be assured of your room.

finally, the road to the old mill is PAVED ! YEAH !!!!!! hope it does well when the rains come. we'll be at jardines and the old mill in june. we hope the fish are biting ! especially the white sea bass and possibly tuna. and, will be bringing back home DOZENS of oysters too.

jardines mex # 011-52 - 616 - 165 - 6060 on their website, they have a U.S. number but IT DOESN'T WORK.

Never expected this big a response. Seems like a popular place. I emailed them for reservations and they quickly responded.

David K - 5-2-2016 at 09:08 PM

So don't use the paved Old Mill road as someone said above?

BAJA.DESERT.RAT - 5-3-2016 at 06:21 PM

YES...DO USE THE PAVED ROAD...first left onto dirt road and past the first dirt road intersecting on the left. they're on the right side after this intersection.

beautiful place, immaculate grounds and exceptional rooms and unbelievable water pressure in the showers. they are also pet friendly on the ground floor rooms in the first section. not sure about the rooms in the back.

they have fresh brewed coffee in the mornings by the office.

please do eat at their restaurant as it's newer and has great service with friendly, english speaking wait staff and wonderful food. don't know if their open for breakfasts though. if you like oysters and if the restaurant has them in stock, do try them. they're from the oyster farms in the bay there and i've been told they are USDA inspected.

if you happen to meet the owner, Guillermo, he is one of the nicest, warmest people on this planet.

if you enjoy fishing, go to the old mill area and check out garcia's pangas and k & m sportfishing, who has great parker fishing boats but a bit pricey.

have a great journey,

BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

PaulW - 5-4-2016 at 09:15 AM

Trouble is when you turn off Hwy 1 you will not see the big sign. Agree use the Mill road.
I think it is one road north of the sign??

It is a popular place, tranquil, secure and serene. Just be sure you have a reservation and print out your e-mail confirmation.

Agreed about the restaurant, be careful, closed on Mondays. The stuffed shrimp are some of the best and the Margi's aren't bad either!

ehall - 5-4-2016 at 12:17 PM

Place sounds great, already got reservations. Room #17

The restaurant is run by Gulliermo's daughter Esmeralda and her husband Carlos. I always thought she had a crush on me. (wishful thinking). She is gorgeous and born in Oakland. They also run a restaurant in town next to the hospital called Viejo San Quintin that has a amazing breakfasts. On the West side of the highway just a few miles North of the turnoff to Jardines. That's actually where I first met Esmeralda.

I'm just tagging along on this trip which is a strange feeling for me. The leader said this is where we are staying. Who I'm I to argue? Lol
