Todos Santos

rgbeard - 1-30-2005 at 11:14 PM

My wife and I are planning to fly to Cabo San Lucas, and would like to make a side-trip to Todos Santos. We understand that the airport at Todos Santos is barricaded with fuel barrels periodically spaced on the runway.

Some have implied that it available "with permission". Does anyone have information on who/how to get permission for this strip?

Rusty if you're successful

getting in do a post over at the BBP board too, thx.

That strip has long been closed but there is a large agricultural operation just outside of town heading towards LaPaz that has an airstrip. I see them using it quite often but have no idea how they would feel about a private aircraft landing there. When I am next in town I could ask around but it won't be till the end of Feb

max,

pls do ask if they would allow with permission, could they be called on tele in advance etc.?

also would they sell landing rights? for a period.

do they have a federal permit too?

Will do Mike. I'll be back down there the end of Feb or first week in March.

Cedric, we Baja pilots would love to have an airstrip available for visiting Todo Santos. How can we contact you for more specific information? Can we email you directly or get a telephone number for requesting permission to land?

Thanks,

Rick

Capt. Mike!
I am not for sure that BBP is up to the Job;

I met the Big Hefy of the BBP at the Airport Hermisillo. When I introducted my self, he said "I am the Guy that answered your eamil about an' Honorary membership". He stated " I did not realize it was you. He ask me to get in touch with BBP again. and he would take care of it! I then emailed when I got Home{6 weeks ago} offering to pay for the membership.

To this day I have had no reply!!

Are they Dependable!!!

Jack is a great guy, and has done more for US pilots and mex relations and our flying priviledges in baja and mex mainland than anyone in history.
his work is tireless, goes to mex city 4 or more times a year meeting and lobbying. Arnold was a pioneer, that's true - but he could barely hold Jack's briefcase in his wanning years. So Jack bought the club and re vamped it - made it ACTIVE again.

he is very busy so i can understand why you didn't get a personal reply.
just join, pay your dues and help keep mex skies available to all foreign pilotos amigo.
and go on a BBP trip, Jack will be at the bar and you can meet him then!

Skeet/Loreto - 8-9-2006 at 05:08 AM

I think Not Mike. I emailed him, I met him and had a discussion, I again emailed him and got no response.
I my world a man's word is still his Bond.
I have investigated enough Aircraft Accidents in my years as an Air Safety Investigator that I prefer another location orther than a Bar.
Twice Bit-no more for me. Will try to find another location of my Arnold things, someone who may appreciate all the Work that he did so that some of the "Modern Day Pilots' can enjoy their travels in Baja.

Might be that I am gettin Senile, but maybe that is a problem with some of the Youngsters of Today--No respect for their Elders who went before them to Pave the Way!/. Sad but True

What was it again you were trying to achieve? Maybe he didn't get the message. Have you inputted on the BBP forum? give that a try - lots of good people there, your types, all would like to hear some of your aviation stories Skeet and most don't bother with visiting here. At least not in great % of the BBP members, numbering around 10K.

And, El Jefe Jack is not much younger than you - so what's the deal with the "youngsters"??

Me thinks there is a simple mis communication here or mis understanding of intent. A membership is only $49.

Either way, hope to see you down Baja way sometime!

Skeet/Loreto - 8-10-2006 at 03:14 PM

Capt. Mike: My request for the first Appliciation started with the Day I met you at the Serinidad Airport over 2 Years Ago! Was assure that I would hear from them as soon as they got back to the States- Finally got on the Website a year later and was told they did not have any Honorary Memberships for Pilots that were Grounded.
Offerred to pay as well as deleliver some Original materials from Arnold,

Silence! until I introducted my self to the Youngster Hefy{Doesn't look near 75 to me]
Again was told things he would "Take care of It" Still Silence!!

What would you do if one of your contractors treated you that way??

Not mis information, just plain "I don't give a Rats Ass about and old Man who flew with Arnold!!

Please send your Friendly BBP Hefy a copy of this email.

"Watch your Airspeed, lest the Ground rises up and Smacks yee".

well, i am sorry Skeet - you surely deserve better!
guess he just doesn't value the association or wants to budget the time.

maybe the group is just too much "big time" these days with all the high rollers running in the pack to Cen am in their Pilatus 12s and 421s.

see you in baja Skeet, you are always welcome in my camp. and in my right seat!
plus - i still owe you a trip as per the drawing at the pryamid 2004? was it?

time flies.......i am now 17 going on 63!!
