Old postcards with big fish in San Felipe

wilderone - 5-31-2016 at 10:41 AM

I scanned a couple old postcards I'd like to share. Scan is a pdf document. Doesn't "copy" into a BN message.

PS: David K. got it done.

Can you save it on Photobucket first, then post that? Email it to me if you like... I am home most of the day today.

I've lost my photobucket capability - I think because I only have Microsoft 7. I'll email it to you. Thanks, David.

Here are the two photos...

Bottom photo is supposed to be Tony Reyes, Papa Fernandez (center) and ChiChi Fernandez hauling in some "average size" totuava.

Here is that photo at PapaFernandez.com website: http://www.papafernandez.com/faq.html

Here is the photo on Gene Kira's MexFish.com gives the year as circa 1953 at Gonzaga Bay: http://www.mexfish.com/sflp/sflp/af011126/af011126.htm

I was lucky enough to meet Tony a bunch of times - he was a great human. Isn't there a statue of Tony on the Malecón in San Felipe?

Here's a photo taken in 2005.

TRIO OF TONYS--The three generations of Tony Reyes Fishing Tours at the San Felipe marina last week, with their two boats behind them (and on the right, the Celia Angelia panga mothership of Bob Castellon’s Sea of Cortez Sportfishing). From left to right are: Tony Reyes Baca, Tony Reyes León, and Capt. Tony Reyes Montez. Photo by Gene Kira.

the date doesn't matter, you've been to Okie landing and it doesn't look anything like this.....thats Papa's mountain in the background

Not being disrespectful

But , Now we have learned that there is fishing and Killing...So sad, for me as I would have love to have caught one.. But they are GONE !!

OK, for willardguy:
From 'The Unforgettable Sea of Cortez' pages 38 & 44:

Tony Reyes (sr.) founded Okie Landing (originally called 'Miramar' after the nearby gold mine) in 1959.

Then there is the photo of him with Papa and ChiChi and that does say it is at Gonzaga Bay, as you said. The caption says the photo is circa 1954.
